Sound is a form of energy. These days quiet systems prove to use that energy better. The Audi R-10, R-15 are good examples.

I've driven a few supercharged V8s and this is one of the quietest chargers. Whine is nice, but too much whine takes away from the refinement. An A8, Q7, etc. owner would be less likely to appreciate it. Like exhaust, everyone has their preference in loudness but we personally tend to like the sleepers and thus appreciate the quietness.
