@redsoxfan1984 Actually mgs2 was the first offensive cover based shooter, so yes it didn't really have a proper cover system, you could only crouch or stand behind objects.

@Fredo5227 No you should say that Gears of War looks like this game not the opposite. (Because this one came first) I don't see how it resembles MGS though. Maybe the suit that the character wears look like Snake's but other than that...

Actually, the 1999 "Winback: Covert operations" for N64 was the game that pioneered the 3rd person shooters with cover-based gameplay.

it also seems far less telegraphed than something like uncharted or gears. when you see a semi-open area with barriers in those games you know a fight is coming up.

Great game, had a blast playing it back then! Maybe it's just about time I bring it back for a quick replay, as I can't really remember anything about the story (because Ryan was completely right in this regard).
