I can't believe how brilliant Vengerov is. I just recently saw Joshua Bell play this live and came on here to compare other artists to that performance and after seeing Vengerov here, I feel like a complete IDIOT for paying what I paid to see Joshua Bell play this. I am not talking about their interpretations, you can't say one interpretation is better than the other as that is in the eye of the beholder. I am talking pure technical skills and musicality. Vengerov is night and day above Bell!
The most important thing is the conception . You like it or simply discard it or you like some angles and hate another ones. I haver heard Oistrakh playing out of the limits or rihgt technique but risking himself to the far boundaries when you can show your heart, and thats the most dificult i think. When I see Vengerov i may dislike his gestures, horrible faces en turns of his head, and how he looks away from the violin. But he has ideas once in a while
yes, i'm 18 well, i thnik i have been not understood completely. i am not ungry because of the quality of the video, i'm angry with all those wo compare the great masters (like Vengerov, Oistrakh or Menuhin) and think that have enough experience playing to say that this player is better than this other. Anyway Thanks for the Vid Dr it's really good.
Horrible? this masterful interpretation has not deserve the poor sound quality of the video and one thing more what is the reason to compare different personalities as Vengerov's or Oistrakh's it just has not sense they're different persons with different ways to perform our favorite music and we can only say wow
Your 18 yaers old yes? u forget that that this vid was was recorded before tv digital video and audio technlogy!. Of course if u want perfect video and audio then utube is not a good enough medium.-remember all vids and audio are reduced to fliv file quality. u can't buy this performance on DVD. I uploaded this video so that young violinists can see his violin technique and learn from him. hope u can grasp my view point.
Thank you. I understand your view point. In fact I'm in the process of writing a sociological essay on how mucians perform classical master pieces in music and how interpetation changes over time.
this section is so incredibly hard to play! it took me 6 months to not feel like my left hand was going to explode. i prefer musicality over being note perect any day! he's playing tchaikovsky's original score rather than auer's edit!
Anyone can play in tune. It takes a lot of heart to make a piece a representation of your artistic self. It's not as if he is overlooking the notes, he is just adding life to it. Life is imperfect. Look at the false notes as an addition of colour. As coined by Legendary Violinist Ivry Gitlis.
He may play slightly out of tune in some sections - but the music is there. That is more important A N Y D A Y. Furthermore he is soloing around the world - you are making comments on youtube. Need I say more?
u idiot just because hes not oistrakh or milstein doesnt mean u get to ignorantly bash him. this is fine intonation just poor audio quality, oistrakh and milstein weren't known for intonation i might add. i love them but they didnt play very well in tune
yup, very true, it is a bit of poor audio quality, when you go see this man live, it's a different story, especially seeing as he has now matured and grown musically enormously
and what is 'in tune' how can we define what frequencies blah blah makes 'in tune' in tune? we ALL know the piano is out of tune, and violin is a unique instrument to adjust notes in relation to their context
I guess it is subjective, because otherwise people wouldnt be fighting over it so much! I play in ET all the time, I likes it very muchos ;-D ! So does vengerov by the sounds of it... what a player

Best violin concerto of all times! Despite who's playing, this a brilliant concerto! I love it on top of any other! Vengerov is a great violinist.
