  • I don't even think that's safe to drive lol. Nice car man, just wow.

  • That 5.0 cammer ain't no joke either.....Sweet

  • OMG!

you should have the 427 sohc with the dual carbs....more horsepower!

  • Thats just plain dangerous.

  • omg what a beast!!!!

  • A soc motored Cobra..... I'm a mopar fan but I'm drooling big time. What a car!!! Supra owners couldn't even drive this if their life depended on it.

  • The badest of the bad!

  • It beat the Chevy's It beat the Hemi's It beat the ferarri's and the rest of the world.427 SOHC takes the back seat to none.Awsome car mate cheers.

  • The 427 SOHC or why Ford doesn't use push rods anymore :P

  • @tbdaemon You sir are correct. Look out for the 2011 Mustang GT: 5.0, DOHC, 4 valve/cylinder, all-aluminum, 412hp, 390lbs. of twist, redline of 7K.

    Can't wait.

  • @peranaz Damn right.

  • Thanks for the comments. It is a complete factory crate motor - out of the first batch of 500 (#367).

It was NEW when I bought it - it had sat for 40 years. I added some aftermarket parts - distributor, carb, air cleaner, valve cover breathers and so on--all done to keep to a certain theme - old school.

I drive it usually each weekend and it pretty much consumes race gas. I wanted to keep true to the Ford engineering spec and thus the CR is 11.5:1. The license plate reads CSX SOHC.

  • So these engines can't be driven on street gas even if it's stock?

  • Is this beast driveable on ''normal'' fuel available on the streets?

I guess not, but it would be fun if it's possible, so you don't have to use more expensive fuel like racing fuel or something like that that is more expensive than standard fuel on the street.

One more question: how much does an complete Ford SOHC 427 ''Cammer'' costs if not restored completely, but have most every of it's part with the engine, what is the overall cost for an engine like this on the market, anyone knows?

  • It would be driveable on "normal" street gas available in the '60s when leaded fuel premium was over 100 octane. Ah, the good old days...... Too bad my Dad got to live and race in those days, but not me....

  • dream car/motor(with dual quads)

  • That must be one nice car, it looked like Gary Patterson bowing to it.

  • Yuo're CRAZY

  • Just a single 4 barrel. Means it "only" has 616 hp. Leno's has the dual quad version.

  • that actually doesn't mean anything unless you are talking about factory h/p and i would say that that intake manifold and carb don't look factory

  • SHHWWEETT!!!

  • wow!!! now that is sweet. 5 stars for the cobra and the sohc.

  • damn!!!!! what a monster
