People, Meghann knows she's not Jenn Damiano. She plays the role completely differently- her Natalie is less openly snarky and sarcastic and more honest about her insecurities. She has a phenomenal voice and is going to make it big one day.
The pianist sucks, but wen you are doing musical theatre you have to sing as if the pianist isnt there. The pianists job is to keep up with you. Not the other other way around. Its VERY hard and scary to do but you have to pretty much do a "I'm gonna sing this whether you keep up or not."
Does she live in San Francisco? I swear I was sitting by her at a performance of the show in the Bay Area, she was being critical about a lot of the singing and such. She seemed very knowledgeable about the show though, looked a lot like her if it wasn't her.

in defense of both the piano player and meghann.... she did miss her entrance, she came in a few beats too early and was off for the first three lines.... after that she was fine and did an excelent job...however the piano player not only played the introduction poorly, but didnt accent the 5/8 bar as it should have been, causing her to miss her cues. in the original, the 5/8 has heavy accents on those 2 beats, which you'll notice the pianist didnt do for the first 4 phrases with that in it
You guys are completely wrong about the pianist. First off, he's probably sight-reading which is amazing in itself. Second, it wasn't even his fault. Those who know this song well knows that it switches from 5/8 to 6/8. Meghann kept coming in wrong. The pianist followed her very well. Meghann is brilliant, I'm not denying that, but I'm so sick of these stupid teenage Broadway fans who don't know anything they're talking about. I said my peace.

I am forced to comment. As a pianist/trumpet player (essentially, a musician) first and then a singer second, I have to say that the slip up was NOT the pianist's fault. I won't go off about her acting (which wasn't great in my opinion, to be honest) but the real issue was that the song goes in and out between a 6/8 that you can feel in 2t o 5/8. She actually misses her cue, and for the rest of the song, the pianist helps her out. THe girl has a nice voice, but she can't count.

I saw N2N at the end of December last year and I saw it with both Meghann and Jessica Phillips. They're voices go together so perfectly. I really love them together, especially on "Wish I Were Here." They were fantastic.
I saw Meghann last night in N2N (Timothy Young was also understudying Henry and was great) and Meghann blew me away - the absolute star of the show: funny, moving, amazing singer...and cute as well! If you haven't seen this show then you have to go watch! Slightly disappointed that in this version they didn't get Jessica coming in with Diana's part - but love the moment Timothy (Gabe) joins in - in the show it's even better!!
She is AMAZING in the show. I've seen both Jennifer and Meghann perform the piece, and Meghann's Natalie is so sweet and innocently forgotten.
At the stage door, Meghann's WAY nicer than Jennifer. Jennifer just smiles and signs and moves on, whereas Meghann is truly interested in the fans, and makes an effort to engage in a conversation with them.
Agreed about Meghann! I just saw the show this past Friday and she was SO sweet. She asked us where we were from and we told her and she thought it was so great we came to see her from the bottom of PA. She's such a dear!

Both voices are phenomenal...but I have to agree with the comments about the pianist...seemed to struggle quite a bit. And it distracted from the performance.
I think that she was so focused on keeping the song on track (because the piano part was really awkward) that she couldn't really focus on the acting. I want to see her do this with a the orchestra

Personally i think she acts great through the song. She uses the music to bring her through the song. Amazing!!!!!!! I Cry every time I hear her sing this. I watch it at least 2 times a day. She is beautiful tooo. I wish i could've been the piano player though.... he kinda was bad and I know this song well enough to pull it off.
I will admit that this girl has a great voice, and I would be happy to see her in the role...but I think Jennifer has the better voice. Plus, Jennifer is absolutely incredible live.

hate to be controversial, but don't blame the pianist either!
I think given the music, the pianist did fairly well. They had trouble staying together for a second at the beginning.
I don't think this song particularly works on the piano...it doesn't have the same impact without that orchestra

actually...she came in early, then tried to hold back a bit and then made it late. it was weird. but youre right about the off-pitched. shes a bit shouty. but she definitely does have a great voice

Both voices are phenomenal...but I have to agree with the comments about the pianist...seemed to struggle quite a bit. And it distracted from the performance.

I think that she was so focused on keeping the song on track (because the piano part was really awkward) that she couldn't really focus on the acting. I want to see her do this with a the orchestra

Personally i think she acts great through the song. She uses the music to bring her through the song. Amazing!!!!!!! I Cry every time I hear her sing this. I watch it at least 2 times a day. She is beautiful tooo. I wish i could've been the piano player though.... he kinda was bad and I know this song well enough to pull it off.
