Amazing song, it's a bridge between psych-pop and the disco era. Right up there with the Ms&Ps' very best stuff.

Since I first heard the album ('72, I was 6), I thought this should have been the single. Apparently Bob & Pete from Saint Etienne also felt that way, and included it on their road 'mix tape' for The Trip series, which brought it to a whole new generation, and for the video, all I can say is, WOW. Great work, and thanks for the track!

You go girl! Mama Cass is legendary and is a perfect music role model from the past. Unlike Cass, 40 years from now, people will be like "Britney WHO? Oh, that hooker looking thing from the 90's and 2000's! Beyonce who? No talent - style but no substance. Same song every time, different words. And her songwriting skills suck - just rips off whatever is trendy at the time, like "Survivor" or the marching band drums from "Drumline" in "Lose My Breath."

This is one of the Mamas & Papas tracks that is overlooked simply because it was on the People Like Us album. It wasn't a big hit mostly because they're harmonies weren't there (due to Lou Adler being absent from the mix). I like it however because it's still a Mamas & Papas album, regardless if Cass isn't vocally present on half the songs. I rate the album 3.5 out of 4. Awesome video!! I love the effects and the remix! 5 stars!!

Thank you very very much for such an awesome comment. The album was very different from every other material the band recorded ,even the musicians were tottally inusitated for me ..bringing a new sonority to the album ..although I prefered the original instrumentalists formation. The album have great moments like Pacific coast Highway and Lady Genevieve...together with Shooting Star were very close to the vocals harmonies they usually did on their 60's albums. Thanks.

Yeah. I like the whole People Like Us album in general. I mean yeah Cass isn't present but she does get a duet with Denny (something Denny had wanted to do earlier, he even asked Cass to record an album with him. Just them together!) And it also shows John Phillip's writing genius. He wrote all but one song "I Wanna Be a Star" which was written by Michelle. I was surprised to see Michelle taking the lead on most of the songs. That's usually Denny's job xD! It's sad to see people shun this album.
