Technically it wasn't called a "Blockade" it was a "Quarantine". Blockade would have been a act of war and that's not what they wanted, but other than that the song was REALLY helpful. so thanks :D

A blockade isn't necessarily an act of war; this being exemplified by the Berlin Blockade of '48-'49, which is also during the Cold War. It came close to provoking a war, but was avoided because the allies opted for an airlift instead of a direct conflict.
