I tend to think he does die since the whole show is about how spike cant die, and how he lost his eye in the past and should have been dead many times by now. Many times you hear him saying "with this be my last one?". Its also made clear the only one that can kill spike is vicious and spike can only kill vicious. So it makes sense that they both would die. In any case this show was and still is the greatest anime ever.

No he died because old amn bull told Jet that he saw Spikes guardian star fading which meant that he was going to die as well. In the last ep. at the very end of the credits you will see a star fade out and then they show a lost shot of Spike in black and white showing the end. So i believe he died. (this is still my opinion so if i'm wrong then i'm wrong) Everyone has a right to believe what they want

He also stated that he believes fans would be upset if there was a continuation.

Some people even speculate that the movie can be a dream of spike (it starts and ends with him sleeping, if im right), that would mean that spike is alive. It makes sense, since the dreams have some importance to Spike in the series...

i love cowboy bebop i started watching it in 2007 and now im obsessed lol, i hate everyone hoping that spike didnt die... spike had to die it was the only way to end a great anime series, and tbh its one of the best endings in any anime series, with all the light hearted humour in the series and all the 'near' misses spike has it really hits you to see him fall to the floor and the star to fade out...and it twists my stomach and i shed a tear every time...

I remember me and my friend thought Spike and Vicious were brothers. They both have the exact same face, and share that common "Brotherly Hate" rivalry that is a common tool in works of art like this. This is when we were younger though, and I thought I remembered hearing they were brothers, but I think I was wrong, or just wishing they were brothers. Anyway, Cowboy Bebop had one of the best series endings ever! Everything was resolved in such a poetic way.
