  • Your fish don't try to eat your crayfish?

Mine have. I had a blue Gill wipe out my crayfish colony in 2days, long ago. It was one of my first native tanks. I also kept clams with crayfish and sunnies before.

    Beautiful tanks & great videos.

    Thanks for sharing

    :)

  • What is fluorite and did you use it?

  • @lbtheman12345 I am assuming you are talking about Seachem Flourite substrate. It is very expensive but is pretty good for planted aquariums. There are a lot of clay-based substrates out there though. This particular tank just has pea gravel and sand.

  • Where did you get ur piece of driftwood in ur tank?

  • whats your tips on keeping crayfish alive?

  • @lbtheman12345 The are voracious. THey need to be fed daily, just like your fishies. I usually have one or two in the tank when they are small and they get pretty big before they croak.

  • @mishmosh2000 how do you fed them with other fish in your tank? I fed my Crayfish sinking shrimp pellets. what do you commend to fed them ?

  • @lbtheman12345 - Shrimp pellets are good. I feed them that too. I try to vary the diet. Jumbo freeze-dried krill by Tetra is very good--I feed it to the crayfish with the tongs as seen in the video. I also like frozen blood worms--the fish usually do not get it all and the crayfish finds them at the bottom. My crayfish even climbs the wood pieces in search of food.

  • @lbtheman12345 You can have a "low tech" tank with easy to grow plants: valisneria, cryptocoryne wendtii, amazon swords, anubias, Java moss, rotala. These will grow in gravel but you can get better growth with aquarium substrate. Plants add so much to a tank, that it is well worth it. THey also propagate with ease. Plantedtank for sale forum usually has starter packages available from other aquarium enthusiasts that are cheaper and healthier than store bought.

  • @mishmosh2000 And what does low tech mean? and just regular gravel from the store can be used to grow those plants?

  • @lbtheman12345 Low tech - no fancy lighting, no fancy substrate, no pressurized CO2 injection. You can grow easy plants in just gravel from the store--2-3" layer. You can also add just sand to that. A lot of plants don't need a lot of fertilizer and can absorb it through the water column.

  • @mishmosh2000 Sweet bec i am starting going to make a 40 gallon native!

  • @mishmosh2000 Nice! What are your tips on keeping plants alive? Do they need any special dirt under the gravel? And what are your favorite plants in your tank?

  • Thats a very nice tank

  • go watch what my rock bass destroy goldfish!

  • whats the thing u used to feed the crayfish

  • Eheim tongs. I use it when I don't want to get my hand/arm wet. Good for planting too. I think another brand has a detachable grabber/cutter.

  • haha big food for big fish
