Not all Space Marine chapters are the same, the Blood Ravens and Ultramarines would probably the kindest of the chapters. Space Marines would probably be seen as the "anti-heroes" of the 40k universe, meaning they do good deeds but not always in the nicest of ways. Eldar are probably the next closest "good guys" seeing as they did help the Guardsmen in Dawn of War: Winter Assault, even if they did ultimately betray them.

Eldar are not really good. They're unpredictable narcisistic pricks which are responsible for the birth of Slaanesh. Their god, Khaine, is a bloodthirsty mofo. The only race close to being good are the Tau, at least they fight for the "greater good" and don't necesarily obliterate their defeated enemies.

It's a metal bolt implanted after fifty years of military service. Space Marines, being long lived and badass, can accrue quite a few, but occasionally regular humans will get them, too, assuming they're lucky enough to live that long.
