  • I agree. I have been learning my bala with books and watching baragnouma´s course de balafon clips and I definitelly prefer more last one as a learning method. It is mainly, because when I learn new things, they are in my mind and they´ll stay there. Of course books can be very good support as well, but this kind of learning method works for me much better.

    Why does this gyil not have the distinctive 'buzzing' sound that is heard on many of them??

  • It's because they are playing the higher octave, the buzz sound comes from the lower octave traditionally

  • Can you get a half Gyil?

    Slaps on the high, and buzzes on the low.
