I don't like this version. I feel it too heavy, sometimes out of tune, the voices are not homogeneous (bad first soloist), although I've appreciated the instrumental accompagnato
I love this song but think it's much more exciting if sung a little more quickly, with more percussion and "umph". I've sung it in a Medieval group in Catalonia and our version was livelier (but never made it to Youtube). Remember that these songs kept the (sometimes rowdy) pilgrims going up to or staying just outside the monastery of Montserrat occupied.
Llibre Vermell or Latin for "Red Book" is some of the earliest written music known. This is a PERFECT composition of the piece Stella Splendins. God Bless you for making this. This music was almost destroyed by Napoleon, when the cathedral of Montserrat was bombarded. Perfect, wonderful. Amazing!!!!
I was answering DennyDucet, who said "'Llibre Vermell' or Latin for 'Red Book'...". I know 'Llibre Vermell' is in part Catalan, Latin and Occitane, but the TITLE of 'Llibre Vermell' is not Latin, but Catalan (in Latin maybe could be something like 'liber ruber').

I like this song... but, im unhappy about the Latin used there... there are some medieval mistakes :-/ Sometimes you don't catch fully the sense.

"Llibre Vermell" is not Latin but Catalan. Stella Splendens lyrics are in Latin, other songs of this book are in Catalan. :-)
