As a former officer, I think they do a great job considering how the laws keep changing tying their hands and limiting what they can do to fight crime. Most people that complain about them are the ones that usually break the law anyway.

Wherever you come from, the police must do their jobs. In our town, the police are about as effective as a ship with a glory holes in the hull every ten feet. You hear more about people being taken behind the floodwall and beat down, or about the cops playing crooked with the contraband they confiscate, than you do about the crime rate dropping or about the streets being any safer.
