The movie is so heartbreaking,. It makes me glad that I had the chance to spend my Christmas with my family. I hope for those that are currently fighting especeally those in Iraq and Afghanistan that they wil be able to spend theior next Chritmas with their families.

This movie along with All Quiet On The Western Front should be shown until war is gone. Never should of repeated but it did with WW2 because of harsh treatment of the Germans and Austrian-Hungarian Empire.
Not quite true because after the war and when Austro-Hungarian empire collapsed they had to pay financially and also lost little bit of land as well. Italy had their own reasons that was beyond just they were offered for joining in WW1. They were offered land if joined and did and well kind of betrayed. Japan okay you got me but thats not part of Europe :) Japan was more complicated matter because of trading and etc.

I love the scene where the French commander tells his father he's going to be a grandfather. Such a wonderful film.

But Just Germany and the neglection of Italy and Japan
Austria-Hungry was excempt from blame as it ceased to exsist after 1918.
