mantis's never have venom, and size does play an important role, i saw that same video, if he had put a fully grown chinese FEMALE praying mantis in there, the scorp would have been toast, everyone knows male, mantisi are pussies.

Praying mantids eat desert scorpions. The only insect that can kill a mantis is a bigger insect... and that is only due to size advantage. They are the elite of the insect world, like lions. :)

ahah just today i put a praying mantis on a thick spider web...and this mini tarantula looking like spider comes out (about 2 inch in size all fury etc)...and they get into a fight for about half an hour...and i left cuz i got bored but the spider had bitten the mantis and left it paralysed...so i guess the spider won...i dont think it died though...its still stuck on the web :S
