This is an awesome improvised spring scale.. Anyone that does not understand that does not even deserve the time required to tell them they are retards. A loonie in Canada is 7 grams, would be easy to weigh out a 1//4 o herb.. And as far as accuracy, this is as accurate as any scale that measures to a tenth of a gram. If you need more accuracy than that you should lay off the soft.

allow me to expand on your idea. instead of taping the plastic to the battery first find out with different weights what makes the cap touch the table at different lengths starting with 1g(at longest length of plastic) up to maby 5g(or shortest length of plastic that still touches the table) then when you put what your weighing in the cap,put the base of the cap on the battery and slide the plastic until it touches the table and you will know exactly how much it weighs because it will be marked

Yes I admit it is lame but this is a very basic scale. You could build on the idea and make it bigger and then measure out amounts and mark where it reachs at those amounts and then you could measure other things with it.

here's one problem with your scale. when you go over weight it still touches the table. if you go higher than the table and used a measuring device you could tell when this happens. also, you could calculate the resistive force of the plastic and then calculate the heights of other weights.... When you know the weight of coin so then you directly know the weight of 'portion' (in this movie I used 2.3g coin so it was the weight of my 'portion'). If you need exactly 1g so then you must take 1g reference weight
