Everybody here seems to debate whether it is a 720 or 540. The fact of the matter is that his two feet face away from the hoop when he begins his jump as he starts his rotation. He then makes 1 1/2 rotation (540) as he dunks the ball and when he lands (which the video doesnt show completely but you can guess by what it does show), he comes down into a 720. For it to be a 720 at the peak of the jump, he needs to come from the otherside of the court and complete another half turn.

that was a 720. the dunk starts when he picks up his dribble. he did 2 complete 360s in the process of shooting = 720. for all of you who think thats not a 720 you have to look at physics. theres is no possible way for someone to do 2 complete spins without the momentum starting before he jumps. he spins so fast and thats from before he gets off the ground. that is so a 720.

It was a 540. He comes down facing the opposite direction that he started, that's a 540. The 720 would mean he could come down facing the same direction.

It's certainly a tough thing to do, I can't do it, but for And1 to advertise it as a 720 is just false advertising.

You CAN NOT spin your body that many times in the air without a boost, in order to get that 720 you must place your feet like that, it is a 720. Nothing less, nothing more. I can do a 720, it'll take a few tries but I can do it, I've done it before. I know that you have to position your feet like that, therefore it's an official 720.

none taken. i actually do play basketball but have yet to execute a 720 or a 360 for that matter. i still contend that this is not a 720. the dunk is measured by how much he rotates from the moment his feet leave the ground to the moment he puts the ball through the hoop. it does not matter where or how he lands.

i agree with your point that a lot of people get credit for 360's without actually spinning all the way around and we give it to them. however, for a monumental feat like a 720, we have to be harsher critics. a 540, as far as i know, is still unprecedented.
