The end scene where this song plays during Margaret's imaginary/dream letter to Edith gets me every time. Mr. Thornton walking through the mill with the bright white light coming through the windows and the cotton fluff wafting through the air is pure genius. I too have watched North & South over and over and over again. It is the best love story I have come across in a long time. The story and this film is brilliant.

Tess of the D'urbervilles, He Knew He Was Right, The Tenant of Wildfell Hall, Bleak House, The Way We Live Now, Wives and Daughters, Daniel Deronda...so many :-)

great music..and a really great drama by the bbc. The whole drama and music is tribute to all of those souls who worked in Lancashires cotton mills. One of which was my grandfather. The music moves me to tears everytime...long live the red rose of Lancashire!!!

@MrSouzy they were still open when I was at school and we had lessons on every conceivable name and stage for a bit of cotton and how pack horses went over the bridges. My brother lives on the next street and it's half still cobbles up there. Not fun for little feet on 3 foot of winter snow.

The scene where this song plays is actually my favourite scene from the whole series: when Margaret says, "Snow white", and Thornton walks silhouetted across the screen and the music sweeps everything away.....so stirring!

Yeah and I'm extremely appalled they don't have an official soundtrack on it.  :( This in addition to the score from the 1970 and 1992 versions of Wuthering Heights are some of the most hauntingly beautiful music I've heard in a long time. They give me goosebumps.
