I actually got a tour of WMEX back in the early 1970s when it was a Top 40 radio station, I was in junior high at the time. WRKO was one of its main competitors and was also a Top 40 station.
Oh I thought this was the WMEX advertisement for the show in Boston (my Dad grew up listening to WMEX in the early 1960s), but that'd make more sense since the show was off the air by the 1980s anyways. Still a nice coincidence!
This is the other WMEX. The original was on the 1510 frequency (tough frequency in Boston broadcasted to the NE, which from New England is towards Northern Europe) The WMEX famous for the Good Guys, Arnie Woo Woo Ginsburg, etc. went off the air. Then in 1980's a new WMEX at 1150 playing oldies, came back for a time, which is station in this video. Now 1150 AM is Radio Luz Spanish Christian.
