i prefer coconut water or a banana after a run in really hot/humid conditions. normally a run for me is about an hour and 20min long and i cover around 8-10mi depending on how i feel that day. i also have 2 or 3 days a week when i will workout twice a day. particularly on those days i like to have sources of electrolytes and calories that do not weigh me down. i find fruits to be the best in that case. for protein on those days i prefer a nonfat greek yogurt. and always remember good old H2O!
Drink Vitalyte is the best electrolyte replacement drink on the market. I've used it in numerous races which last between 1.5 hrs to 3 hrs and never have cramped. Coconut water works great too. I've never cramped using coconut water either.
Hi Stew, great tips as always. Could you do us all a favor here on Youtube and post a video of you doing a complete pre-workout stretch routine? It would help so much to see these exercises PROPERLY done by someone who knows what they are doing.
This is not the ONLY thing you eat - only if you sweat your BUTT off do you add electrolytes to your post workout meals. Of course you eat a great protein source (egg, meat, beans, nuts) , fruits / veges for carbs, and good fats (as in peanuts / almonds)...
I do not sweat like this everyday when I workout. Where I have seen it help tremendously is in 2 a day practices in August, multi-game sports tournaments in the summer.
Also - the next time you feel like crap after a tough workout in the heat - consider how much you sweat. I usually weigh myself before after and after a 5-7 lb weight loss of water you need something quick. Your choice what you put it in but I have seen and personally experienced some great benefits from these items or I would not have mentioned them. These companies did not pay me to say that either. I am sticking by them - garbage or not.
@sdsapphire I'm sure SS eats his veggies and other healthy things, but convenience should be taken into account. After I sweat my balls off, quickly drinking a can of "Noodle Os" is a great tip. I'll eat my broccoli, chicken and brown rice later.

Stew, I'm not sure if you will see this. But it is because of you that I'm able to run as much as I do today. Thanks! ~ Peace
