I remember that program, it was called "DOC - Musica e affini", and it was broadcast in Italy during late '80s on RAI2 (Second State Channel). It was blues/jazz oriented, but there were many great exceptions, there were even some punk rock bands.

Crowd was not important - it was mainly composed by pop-listening teenagers who stayed there just because their families had some connections in RAI.
