FIASporting Regulations: "The applicant must, from a sitting position, be able, alone, to extricate himself and move away from the car. Out of the vehicle, lying on his back, he must be able to turn onto his stomach and vice versa."
@azapro911 Watch Nurburgring 1997 or Belgium 1998 if you want to see Diniz's best drives. Unfortunately he rarely came up with the goods (but still better than most paydrivers of the 1990s).
@azapro911 Oh, he kept his head in Spain 96 too, when almost everyone else was flying off the road in monsoon conditions. Even if it was 2 laps behind Schumacher, in 6th place.
@darthbandon10 Well, that was much better than Damon Hill managed that day. I seem to remember that year's World Champion sliding off 3 times and then dawdling into the wall after 10 laps, so Diniz's drive was quite credible really.
@azapro911 Having a look at some of Pedro's other points finishes, he also outpaced Hill in the 1998 Monaco race (6th v 8th, a full lap ahead despite the inferior machinery) although Salo's 4th was more impressive.
@azapro911 To be fair to Damon he did say that Diniz was underrated as a driver when they were team mates. To emphasise his point Diniz qualified ahead of him at Spa that year
@ebyard that was the Clio Williams an amazing car at that time...In-line 4-cyl, 1988cc 150bhp 900kg Top speed: 138mph 0-60: 7.5 sec ...they only made 2500 ...it was a little monster =D
Ligeir was having a bit of a bad patch at the time.......well most of the previous 15 years.

@darthbandon10 Diniz certainly wasn't a bad driver. One of the few out-and-out pay drivers who actually could drive after all! :-)

@reptongeek As pay drivers go, Diniz was one of the best. He kept Damon Hill and Jean Alesi very honest during his time as their team mate.

I love the Renault Clio being used a safety car. I have one and wish I could drive it around infront of 24 F1 cars :-)
Also this guy needs to learn to pronounce Ligier - it's "Lee zhee ay" not "Lee shay". Grr!
