Your groups weren't controlled, for all I know, your face could have cued them...social desirability could have also influenced their confidence. And no, your hypothesis not not correct, it's simply supported...assuming you did a statistical analysis, in which case, I'd like to see the results from it. And why not trying an even more ludicrous subject: One is tap water, the other is bottled water. (But we'd have to test first if the control group can spot a difference).
THere is I think one problem and that is when they taste the blastet coke they dont flush out their mouth so they cant really taste the difference, cause the diet and normal is almost similar taste(both coke)

The samples should also be in non-transparent cups with straws as the difference can be told from the look/fizziness of the cokes:)
