  • did this thing with a piece of regular wire (left over from an old lamp post) and an ant1 plug i had from my old tv. Cost NOTHING. tools NOT NEEDED. Works absolutely great!!! Thanx man!! :)

  • Any idiot could think of that. You could fall onto a barb wire fence and get the same results....LOL

  • I've been using this method for a while now...since you gave me the idea on....now with the changes that they're about to do...no matter what we try, even rabbit ears nothing will work anymore....sometimes it makes you want to hate technology....it's just not fair for everybody......

  • Idk anything about tv rlly like what i need for channels and i dont have anything hooked up to my tv that i might need so if i did this would it work or do i need some type of box?

  • A uhf loop....Cool!!!!

  • You show one end of one phone wire being prepared, then (at 1:00) write: "after that screw all both of the wires..." Did you prepare two wires, or both ends of one wire? Thanks.

  • Love the music, i think i will watch again just so i can rock!!

  • i can do it for cheaper and easier

  • @ThePokemaster538 and with less things

  • Will this work with DTV?

  • Followed the directions and pulled in an *almost* crystal clear SuperBowl 2011! Thanks! I live in the middle of nowhere and was sure this would fail...I am glad I tried it.

  • Works on regular tv and dtv too if your tv has a tuner built in. This saved me $10 on a antenae. He showed cable. Maybe he gets Hannah Montanna on tv. I used to get it.

  • it doesnt works!

  • you need a digital tv

  • doesnt work plus hes showing a cable tv channel not a regular tv channel so of course the signal will look clear! which proves my point doesnt work!

  • You don't even need the connector ... just stick the wire into the antenna port!

  • good video and I also like the song, ..Ozzyyyy...\m/

  • Nice music!

  • Hannah Montana haaaaaaaahhaaaaaaaaa

    cool

  • lol Hannah Montana

  • lol i actually like the song =-) its catchy, and do you know what would happen if i connected it to my metal roof?

  • what channel is this on?What number cause my analog t.v only has 69 channels(5 that work)Does this connect to a roof antenna?

  • PLEASE loose that racket! Sorry I clicked!

  • to all those who think this does not work:

i bought all the parts and covered my ceiling corners with the phone cable.

    IT WORKS PERFECTLY.

    i love it...

it also works when i connect the antenna connector to my metal bed.

    ITS AWESOME!!!!

  • music detracts from content...weak

  • that's just a basic UHF dipole antenna, if you wanted to pick up VHF you just make the cable longer

  • Also you have to keep in mind the nation has switched to digital so if you don't have a dtv box or a newer tv it won't work you have to hook this to a DTV box

  • The disney channel is actually brodcasted in my area on saterday mornings don't comment on things you know nothing about. True this is not the best way to build one but it does work very good

  • I wanted to post something on this video because I actually made this thing and I noticed a lot of the people commenting didn't actually make it and aren't posting any useful or meaningful comments (typical).

Bottom line: This antenna works. I live near Orlando and I pick up 39 stations with it. Use a 12 foot length of wire. You can use phone cord or multiple lengths of regular copper wire. Hook it up to a cheap amp from Home Depot if you want to boost the signal. The end.

  • this might work but your video is wrong. . wayy wrong. showing the disney channel is so misleading.

  • @c0wz he is showing hannah montana, which has been coming on ABC ( regular TV) on saturday morning for YEARS now. you can see that what he is showing is CLEARLY not cable quality duh

  • @tmburrou it clearly said disney channel in the lower left corner. it is not ABC.

  • fake: disney channel is not over the air

  • thats my tv!!

  • I don't know much about electronics, but I have a question. If you attached a couple of magnets wrapped around a few times with copper wire and screwed those in with the ends of the cable, would that make the reception better?

  • maybe or the magnetic field created would mess up the reception so it could go eather way

  • @tracy10UT NO! Coiled wire around ferrous materials like carbon magnet would not allow RF (radiating frequencies) in on the line. however without the magnet, a coiled wire acts as a transformer and would raise the voltage one a given source ..say RF. But ONLY if done correctly..ie: measurement for the bandwidth & diameter of the [load]!!! Keep reading your a smart person

  • fake

  • nrox653 is probably right,its pay tv!

  • To the idiots who think this works:

Look at the bottom left corner of the TV in the video. It has a Disney Channel icon. AFAIK if this was ABC then there would be an ABC icon at the bottom right corner.

    Fake as hell.

  • it actually works but yeah the image is not that bright but that always depend where the hell youre livin

  • @nrox653 im still gonna try it whenever i can get the connecter.

its worth a try cause i dont have an actual antenna right now.

  • Worked for me. I am using an amp too but am getting higher reception levels than bunny ears, flat antennas, basically this is the best thing I have tried that is inside the house in the room I need an antenna in. Thank you so much.

  • i'll have to try something like this. maybe not with phone cable.

  • I pulled in all the local channels in Tallahassee with about 12 feet of phone cord and a connector I had laying around. Thanks a lot, this really works. Also thanks to Alwaysopen for his comment confirming that it's just a loop and not hooked to anything else but the connector.

  • wat song is this?

  • I tried this ghetto-antenna out and it worked! I did the same thing but just used a normal co-ax cable-tv wire instead. bingo, clear tv on the static-filled ones I had on buddy-ears. kill the rabbit.

  • best way to do antenna like this guy did is to connect oone of those cables to a radiator ar smf... so whole house would be an antenna ^^

  • I try this and now when I talk on phone, I can see other peoples that phone me on tv! Is very good can see them, no?

  • lol that's a good one woodsiesr ,,

need to patent and sell it to at&t lol

  • WTF?better you study how antenna working!

  • For all of those who think this is a cable station. Go to the listings for your local ABC affiliate. Look at Saturday morning.

ABC shows the Disney lineup including Hannah Montana.

The screen shows "18". That is the local ABC station. On Saturday mornings it shows Hannah Montana. This is not a cable station, but rather "Free over the airwaves".

  • I swear there are some total dumb asses watching this stuff and commenting about it.

A phone cable is comprised of at least 4 solid copper wires. If you watched the video the guy stripped the shielding from both ends, twisted the multiple wires together and then screwed them into the balun. This makes a multiloop antenna. He corrected his length of cord from 3-5 feet to 13 feet.

Both ends are connected and nothing goes into the wall.

OTA HD is better than FIOS.

  • OTA HD has less channels, but it certinally is better than FIOS. I have seen both.

  • Why are you watching that stupid show uhg

  • do u plug the phone cable in your wall then? and if u do what happens when u get a call? does it go all distorted?

  • no u plug both ends into the connector

  • How could you plug it into the wall if both ends are cut off? You have to strip it as shown above and connect into a 300/75 OHM adapter (or "One regular tv antenna connector" :) ). Just use an extra phone cable.

How do you plug it into the wall and your phone if the ends are cut off? Watch it again and pay more attention.

  • only 1 end is stripped and plugged in the tv. he never shows the other end

  • Watch it again. It shows him working on one end, but you can see both ends stripped and pluged into the 300/75 OHM adapter. Or "little antenna connector thingy".

  • It works!Thanks.5/5

  • 1st of all I spent 8 bucks for all of my materials. OK. My phone line only has two black wires and not four different color ones. Can it still work with the two black wires???

  • right now i have none of those items. I tried a safety pin and i got a very poor signal and no sound. I tried a close hanger and it would not fit in the cable slot. So if anyone has any better ideas message me as soon as possible!!!

  • but thats an cable only show right?

  • Thanks! I went from no signal to 20 channels at about half strength. But at first I couldn't find telephone wire(cat5e) so I used rg6u, both central conductor and shielding and it worked. I did try cat5e with not as good results as the coax and will try some different lengths and orientations to see if I can improve reception. Glad I found this.

  • Super FAKE...

There's no Disney Channel at all on FTA TV...

Also, "wires" are innadequate for UHF TV Reception...

  • yea, I have to agree with paranormal33; made one many years ago and it did not work. I picked up a better signal with nothing attached to the tv than this thing.

  • Comment removed

  • This antenna is a joke. I made this exact thing 20+ years ago! It sucks and is no good for HDTV. What's the point? @@

  • Ozzy Osbourne: I don't want to stop

edit title from last comment post

  • what song is this?

  • Comment removed

  • He forgot to Reply, but it is: Ozzy Osbourne: I don't want to stop

  • lmao, i see you like hannah montana eh? lol good vid, but disney is not a free channel lol

  • It sure is. I get it on channel 7 every saturday for free. I haven't paid for T.V. in over a month now.

  • nice try buy you can't get disney over the air

  • Again, Hanna is on channel 7 (free) every saturday.

  • Notice the first show he turns it to is Hannah Montana

  • Works great for me . Live in hilly city (Pittsburgh) and needed an outside ant. to receive a good over air signal with old system . I used an old 2 wire phone cable about 6' long plus the 300 to 75 converter to plug wires into tv and the digital signal is really good.

  • so fake, there's nothing to recieve the signals

  • Nothing like turning 10 seconds of information into a 4 minute video.

  • I didn't get it. Is it just ONE wire connected to the cable connector on both ends or is it two separate wires connected at one end and the other end stays loose ? Can somebody clarify this for me please ? Thanks

  • Both ends I think. But I haven't tried it yet.

  • That is clearly cable channel 18 her tunes into. Did anybody ever get proof that his antenna works? As for Disney, ABC is owned by them and some of their shows air on Saturday morning as a result.

  • yeah better shutup

  • It would be easy to watch this video if the method was verbally explained instead of that REALLY REALLY ANNOYING MUSIC.

  • @msmithriv Ozzy annoying? Shame on you! haha

  • Lol! This video is a joke, to be honest...

Here is a fact! Disney Channel does not broadcast OTA (Over-The-Air)!!!

  • dude it comes out on saturdays dummas. on regular tv. or OTA

  • Disney does not broadcast OTA you moron! Do your homework before you bark...

  • Another thing, it can be an indepedent broadcaster. That broadcasts cartoons on Saturdays, but not on the other days of the week.

Think of a radio station. Let's say it is a variety station of all genres of music. The radio station only plays Reggae music on Saturdays. Therefore, does that mean it is only a Reggae station or plays Reggae music for one day?

    I hope that helps...

  • ty u hes so fukin close minded he should get out of his moms basement

  • ????

  • Disney is the owner of abc and they broadcast Disney Chanel programs on Saturday mornings

  • Disney Channel is not broadcast OTA. You might as well try to convince me, Pay-Per-View is now broadcasting OTA. I don't know about Disney owning ABC. However, I do know that Disney Channel does not broadcast OTA. ABC might broadcast OTA shows but that's still besides the point. Because in order to get DISNEY CHANNEL, you must have a satellite provider or a cable provider...

  • ok i get what ur trying to say yea abc broadcast popular shows like ahan montana and some of that crap for lil kids on saturday not the full programing of disney chanel

  • Thank you for understand now. That was the whole time what I was saying. However, I was wrong in a sense. How? I forget that Disney Channel, owned a few other channels. In which I don't know & or, don't remember.

Since Disney owned other channels. They can always put shows from the "Disney Channel." Which is the first time I heard this was so.

  • Turn that stupid ass rocker music off. It's annoying....

  • How the hell can this possibly work? The phone line is only connected on one end, but the other isn't.

  • From what I saw in the movie, both end are connected.

  • It appears to be a loop type antenna. Questions is this: does that connector contain an inductor to convert 300ohm to 75ohm (4:1 balun).

  • This worked great for me. I have it one one of my TVs and I'm about to make another for my other TV.

  • Just to Confrim, THIS WORKS.... But as

UberStarFkr discribed....depends on your area and location...

  • This setup will work as it's using the basics of the older stereo system antennas. Remember the big plastic circle you hooked up to your stereo to get stations in better? It's just a wire wrapped around that circle.

So yes this does work but the truth of what he didn't explain is how far he is from any given station or even his environment (city, suburb, countryside).

If you live close and not around many people this will work fine. If you do though then it may or may not work well.

  • Amazing how with that antenna you can get a cable network! it must really work well!

  • so wheres the "trick"?

  • fake, disney doesnt go ovet the air and if it was on channel 5 or whatever on saturday morning then it woudln't hav the disney logo at the bottom.

  • i will just go buy a antenna from 99cents store.......lol

  • this is great \.....

just wanna ask... is this thing really works?

is there anyone done it,,, proven this thing is working??

pls reply me... anyone who done it..

    tnx...

  • okay frist of all you can only get disney channel on cable

  • you think you can fool us...it will not work in a weak signal....you must study first....ha,ha,ha,

  • Is this joke?

  • disney doesnt broadcast over the air.

    this is fake

  • I thought they play that crap on ABC too. But yeah it's fake.

  • ABC does show disney channel programs, but only on saturdays. They are required by the FCC to show at least 4 hours of childrends/educational programming. All the networks show their kids blocks on saturday.

  • hell yah want to know how to make a television antenna for under a penny? take a paper clip bend one end into a triangle shape bend the other into a straight line attach to the back of the coax connector. even works as a digital antenna

  • good

  • If U have cable/satellite and its running, go to channel 14 on your TV NOT your cable/ satellite!

  • Since when did disney broadcast over the air?

    This is a joke...

  • i agree though this is a good idea if you dont have a attenna it does work but not well you need a few more steps google it

  • @spunker88

actually thats ABC kids, they do broadcast on analog, and now digital (along with cable and satellite)

  • mmmmmm, I used a 3-5 feet long telephone cable, did everything good, but I only get 2 channels with very poor quality :(....

  • how do i know it realy works THEGMAN1996

  • umm just read all the comments GLOBER323 pretty much every one says it works great

  • Nice gavin, good video!

  • which cable? And where do you get it? Since I've bought shitloads of antenna over the years and none have been any good, but you're the video super master, tell me, where do I get this amazing cable?

  • If you've ever watched a Comcast commercial you'd know.

  • What is that? Do we get it with Free To Air telly down here in Australia?

And more to the point, how does that help with my viewing pleasure not being disturbed by signal degradation due to flimsy antennae and bad location for decent terestrial signal?

  • don't know where you are, but i'm up high in a Brisbane apartment building with just the concrete of my building between me and the towers and can't get anything to work!!! haha. How annoying! Maybe aussie tv doesn't broadcast with much power or something.

  • jajajaja

  • looks the same with bunny ears

  • ure right

  • im confuesed, i have bunny ears, and was thinking of buying those buny ears u plug in the wall(they get better receptions) but u cut up a phone cord and jack that in and got BETTER picture than i do...im guna try some other videos cuz the comments have me blown away and then if i see more of this stuff ill try and post bak here

  • This antenna works quite good.. but with balun for 5-69 channel you may get MUCH better reception with less screen distortion - and the price of antenna will grow about +5 to +25$ depends on balun quality (of course you may do balun yourself or buy tv connector with built-in 300->75 ohm balun)

If you're living far far away from tv transmitter - forget about good quality. Of course you may try antenna preamplifier, hehe :)

  • For those who don't have the antenna connector, I was lazy and didn't want to go search one out. I had extra coaxial cable, so I cut the end off about 4 inches or so, exposed the inner copper wire, and twisted it with the two ends of the telephone wire. I used electrical tape to secure the cables to eachother and cover up the wire connection. Now I have tv in the bedroom that is equally as good as the amplified bunny ears in the living room. Quite impressed, thanks.

  • how chanel do you have with this antenna?

  • You need a different TV for each channel, I have 38 tv's stacked up on top of each other, but I only really watch about 24 of them at a time.

  • i recently bought a dtv converter box, and much to mydissappointment, the antenna I bought did not help at all. 4 channels is all it would pull in and it was amplified 45 dbs. I put this stupid phone cord thing together hung it on the wall, fooled with it a little and serious folks I have 21 channels now, all main broadcast channels plus extras.

  • ummm................ disney chan. is from cable, not an analog channel

  • that was channel 18 retard !

  • I got satelite but anyways I have a bunny ear antenna and since I live in florida there's lots of hurricanes and whatnot so when my satelite isn't working I switch my hdtv from HDMI2 to channel 3 then tune to the local news station with the VCR so I can get weather updates. This helped alot. Now I don't have to fidget with that peice of shit.

  • Alright is it me or did anyone else notice that's the Disney Channel which is a Cable Channel. Your telling me a telephone cord can pick up the Disney Channel?

  • where do you put the phone cord? what if i throw a shit ton of that phone cord up in my attic and throw it about? right now i have rabbit ears in the attic and it almost does good enough job. i also have a 10 db amp on it. my current digital tuner isn't 'exactly' great. it's just OK. my goal is to be able to send the OTA signal to 4 different tvs in the house. hope someone has advice?? btw, i did the tune. cheers.

  • Where can I get the tv antenna connector? I find RF connectors but I can't find the one you showed in the video. anyone know what exactly the connector is called or have a link where I can buy it online?

  • Could I use any other type of cable?

  • cool man i am in india and with this trick i found a chennel which is inleagle in my country

  • hey do u have to have the tv connector or could u just connect one end of the telephone wire to a coaxial cable and hook that up the tv, and then just point the other end of the telephone wire to the desired location of the station?

  • So do I just leave the other end of the telephone cable dangling or something?

  • watch one more time...

  • I take that as a yes?

  • no you connect both ends of the telephone cable to both of the screws.

  • Oh yea! Damn obvious.. thanks.

  • i didnt know the disney channel was available through anntena LOL!!

  • it was through abc in the morning! read the other comments!

  • whos singing is it black sabbath? if so tell me what song

  • ozzy osbourne- i dont wanna stop

  • it looks like a simple loop.

  • ya how did it work out for u? did u try it?

  • Fair on close station. You have to cut the wire to the frequency you want it is better, if put on a solid form in a circle. directional also.

  • oh i also made a slight mistake but it doesnt effect it too much, put 10- 15 feet of phone cable not 3-5

  • do u plug the other end of the phone wire into the phone plug and get free cable plz reply asap

  • no you strip both ends of the wire and stick both of the ends in the little antenna thing.

  • By "little antenna thingy", do you mean 75/300 OMH converter? :)

  • no you don't

  • Awesome video and idea, worked like a charm! Thanks!

  • do i need to screw 2 separate 3-5 feet of telephone cable or will i just need 1 only?

  • just one! tell how it works out after!

  • thanks! ill try that!

    !

  • holy sh**! i hav a really aod tv and i got the clearist picture ive seen on my tv

  • thanks :)

  • hey:)) what the f***?

as an antenna can be used a nail :-j

  • This Is Such A Simple Concept You Can Make A Antenna Out Of Some Aluminum Foil And Some Cable

    Its Just So Simple

  • it's called cable

  • omg i just explained how i was watching the disney channel in the last comment! If u want ill post a vid of like channel 8 or something!

  • Yeah right, you picked up the Disney Channel with a connector and telephone wire? I don't think so.

  • omg u dum ass! i saw this on channel 8 or 19 in the morning! They have a disney thing in the morning at about 9-10 o'clock on one of the antenna stations!

  • thegman is right you know! abc plays the disney channel on saturday morning
