I was impressed with parts 1& 2 - Thanks for these. Most of these German sub-machine guns had the same fault. The vertical magazine made accurate, prone shooting almost impossible - the Kalashkinov AK47 design took note and ironed that problem out. In WW2 The British (Australian) Sten gun with its horizontal magazine made for better accuracy and defense.

@finnipig1243 fake? no the death ray pistol was designed by speer in 1944 all plans was made and saved in the achives in france, then in 1957 they made it after the plans and it worked but only at a half mile they dropped the project in 1959 because it was against the law.

The Volkssturmgewehr 2 looks a lot like the m14. Maybe the Germans got a little desperate and started making improvisations on captured M1 Garands.

@717steven no gun was named "stg" (sturmgewehr) until 1944, with the stg44. Before that it was the mp44, mp43, mkb42H and mkb42w.

The mkb 42 (w) and the mkb 42 (h) were products of testing with the new cartrige, 7.92x33mm. They were guns to see which design would better handle the bullet. The mkb42 (h) won the contest and then they made some changes and came up with the mp43. Long story short, the mp43 changed to mp44, then finally the stg44. Then late in the war the stg45, but the stg45 really didnt do anything because the war ended before much could be done to it
