  • Oh my God .... I never resist this Mr. rochester... Toby is so sexy...

  • Wow, I loved your video.Toby Stephens is so sexy...

    Thank you :-D

  • I totally like and accept your explanation DaftTwerp... had same thoughts and doubts... who would escape from such a seduction ;) So I admit that this scene had to be happen like it was in the book - in the library..

  • JANE WAS NEVER SEDUCED BY ROCHESTER THEY ONLY SHARED A GREAT ROMANCE LIKE NO OTHER AND THEY ARE SO DEEPLY IN LOVE.THIS IS REAL UNSELFISH LOVE WHICH A PERSON FEELS ONLY ONCE IN HIS LIFE.JANE EYRE HAS ALWAYS BEEN A GREAT INSPIRSTION THROUGHOUT MY LIFE.I ALWAYS WANTED TO BE LIKE HER

  • @annetekoul I THINK YOU HAVE CAPS LOCK TURNED ON.

  • I read the book, and I think people were very prudish at the time it was written. They would have been shocked and would have lost respect for Jane if she had lost her virginity before marriage.

  • Uff The last part of the video Turned me on! I LOOOOOVE Thiis!

  • NOBODY 'S DONE IT SO WELL AS ZELAH AND TIMOTHY

  • he is sooo much hotter a Rochester than the movie version i watched.

  • I must see this version!

  • the song just makes it all the more sexy

  • well done! well done indeed. The music and the style of video go so well. You've definitely captured the disorientating feeling of lust.

  • Awesome video! I really liked this interpretation of the "after the wedding" scene. There are others more true to the book, but for a modern audience I think this one really puts the temptation and intensity of feeling that Rochester was bringing to bear on Jane into perspective. She really had to have an unyileding sense of self respect and moral character to refuse him. :) And this video... she definitely had a core of pure steel to choose death and starvation over that! Truly great vid!

  • is the song the theme to dorian grey?

  • Very Funny Video! Good Imagination! Well Done! Bravo! One of my favorite Mr. Rochester actors! The actress playing Jane is also very good!

  • Oh my goodness...Toby's stare at 0:35 made me melt... <3 This video is awesome.

  • My favorite book, my favorite screen version of it and you have made my favorite music video of it! HOT!!!

  • Yeah, all well and good, but she went away a virgin because she ran before her temptation completely overtook her.

Unlike Bertha who would've just given in, or even initiated it.

    Sorry, that's my opinion.

  • Where I can download this movie?

  • This is amazing!!!

  • Thank you! i just had to see this again! MMMMMMMM!

  • ooooh baby! CLIVE! OMG! I would.........OMG! In my dreams!! nice video! too sexy and hot for words!

  • I listened to this song with bass headphones. ...I could still hear my heartbeat.

  • Lovely video but I have to say, in my mind's eye when I read Jane Eyre, Clive Owen is my Mr. Rochester. I think it's time for a remake with Clive. And I will be very happy to oblige and play the part of Jane :)

  • Could someone please give me the title of the song, please???

  • @janeyre82 Angel by MAssive Attack :)

  • @sm24rox Thank you very much :)

  • DaftTwerp, YOU need to make the next Jane Eyre movie! it would be a blockbuster!

  • @MWils641 hahah indeed

  • I think this scene happened under the chestnut tree after he proposed to her. What else could they have been doing during the four or five hours between dusk and midnight???? There is a lot the book alludes to, but does not discuss, One is the amount of time they spent together, and another is their passion for each other. I think it is a beautiful and accurate portrayal of their love.

  • I could not of walked away from that, I've would of been like, "ok, I will be your mistress" lol. Jane Eyre 4 Eva!

  • @egtprc i agree entirely :)

  • As a guy, I feel slightly homosexual commenting on this video, but god damn I love this book.

  • This video has the wrong title. It shouldn't be 'The Seduction of Jane Eyre' but rather, 'The Seduction of the Female Population.'

    Good lord, Mr.Rochester...

  • @lavenderblossom I couldn't agree with you more.

  • The timing throughout this whole video is absolutely brilliant.

  • Love and passion can exist together. it's what make love beautiful, not dirty. This adaptation of Jane Eyre truly captures this and thus makes any version made prior To it and perhaps even after it no where able to top it!

  • Love and passion can exist together and I believe should. It's what makes such intense love beautiful, not dirty.

  • Love and passion can exist together and I believe should. It's what make love beautiful, not dirty.

  • I love here how Jane finally reveals what's in her heart. Rochester than feels secure in giving his heart completely to her, having been hurt so many times before. He had many relationships prior but this was the first time he came to know what love truly is. I believe this to be one of the most beautiful love storie of all time, unequalled by none!

  • Let us not forget this was to be their wedding night! Can you blame them for being so impassioned....

  • In my humble opinion, this is the best Toby Stevens has ever looked!!

  • Just visiting.....on more time!!!

  • I love this! So well done. I just posted a completely different kind of Jane Eyre tribute, my all time favorite, but this which you've done is a favorite of mine. Thanks.

  • Toby has nice hands for a man. And so, so sexy... That wicked smile of his...

  • So Im not the only one obsessing about this book. Ahh, I'm glad to find I'm still sane.

  • Excellent video. You captured the chemistry of the characters. I am a huge fan of the book and have seen most of the adaptations on film. I haven't seen a movie version that I can match this version or the book. Does anyone know where I can get a version that has the scenes that PBS cut?

  • @Bonnie0207 I got mine on amazon.

  • MIND-BLOWING is more like it. @daftTwerp, I complete agree with your description on the video. The flashback scene has to be the best of the adaptation. I don't know. There's no way she walked out a virgin after that. He is too sexy!!!

That scene was just so sensual..ufff, goosebumps! :) ♥♥♥

  • Oh man this is awesome!

  • The music works so well with the video. Well done!

  • hes sooooooo beautiful!!! i looooove him!! :))))

  • sensual, sensual!!! ,no hay nada sexy y sensual que toby stephens como rochester.

  • Very good.

  • Best eye sex ever :)

  • Wow. This video definitely shows the more seductive side of the story of Jane Eyre, which of course was probably the purpose. I just never noticed it before seeing this. The music was totally perfect by the way, very seductive sounding, if you know what I mean. Part of me always wondered how on earth Jane could walk away from a scene like that without...you know ;) Anyway, great job!

  • I confess, I am obsessed with the (2006) movie ! I watch it every day ! But between the Book & movie, I observe something different and new quite often ! I am just hoping that the 2011 will be just as good !

  • Massive Attack

  • I really enjoyed your video. Great job on synchronizing the music with the clips.

  • the only thing wrong with these episodes was that rochester was too damn hot! (not that im compaining hehe)

  • Which is the song?

  • When I was younger and just read the book, I asked my mom, why she didn't agree to go far away with him even not to be married with him, when he loves her so much. And my mom answered me: when you will be a little older you will understand. And I thought - love is everything. Now.. Now I understand. Self respect is important, but most important - be aware that you are respected from your husband. I should have learnt it few years ago...

  • This is so true for some good stories: You will always get a different point of view whenever you will re-read it or watch it again. It is really fascinating. Live & learn ;-)

  • @GattoCioccio thanks, i agree. as a 20 something i find is so sad how often my age group leaves their self respect in the dust, but Jane's dignity would have been nothing with out Rochester's respect for her. What I love about how they did this scene is it can be understood but us today. Everyone is in a situation where the wrong just feels so right, but true love is helping each other to become better, and not to fall...but it takes both parties :)

  • Last weeks I have been thinking a lot about this book. If before Mr. Rochester was a hero for me, the man you dream to be with; now I see him as a weak person, a liar and who has no respect for others... My world and perception of life and love has changed. Love is not everything...

  • Please tell me what song did you use on this video? Is really good, and as you I think that being in this situation Jane Eyre might have said yes... so its good to imagine it ;)

  • Its Angel by Massive Attack

  • Jane Eyre is in another fucking league toTwilight and its sparkly vegetarian vampires! Don't even mention that books' name in the presence of one of the great Brontë stories!

  • No need for the f word. I agree they are not in the same league. You can express your passionate opinion with other words I'm sure.

  • Words are words, it's your problem how you interpret them. In England, the country where this language was born, swear words aren't as overdramatised as they are in America, so it's pretty common for them just to be used as emphasis.

So I'll say it again, Twilight fucking wanks!

  • @dan892k7 Excuse me, but I'm from England too and I don't agree with your point of view. That just makes all English people sound coarse :P Yes, England is the lad where this language was born, and consequentially there are plenty of words available here that can be used far mor creatively for emphasis without needing to resort to swearing. =)

  • Perhaps you're right, that comment was a bit coarse, but still fully justified when you consider that she mentioned 'Twilight'. However, it is certainly true that swear words don't carry the same weight here as they do in the US. Especially in the south, programmes and radio shows have been ceased for dropping what they refer to as the 'F-bomb', whereas in England, you can watch BBC after 8 and almost every programme has swearing in it.

    Dan

Ps, If you like vampires, read Dracula, not Twilight

  • This video is perfect for this romance that I love!! The scences selected are perfect. I had heard this song before and it blew me away. I didn't know the name of the song or who performed it.

You have captured their chemistry and the intensity of the relationship.

  • woh! goosebumps!

    perfect song and perfect scenes!

my favourite adaptation of Jane Eyre and i could never figure out how she resisted him.

Though if it were a true story then i guess it would have been different ;)

    five stars! x

  • aaahh thanks for sharing your video!

you did a cool vid, i luv it *.*

    congrats for this job ^^

  • Very cool video! You did a great job putting the clips together, and the music is awesome. I'm going to have to get the MP3 of this song. Thanks for sharing!

  • Well, we know that Mr. Rochester was NOT a sexually moral man, and promiscuity was not as sparse as we'd like to believe back then. I think people romanticize it when they think everyone walked around with chastity belts on until marriage.

That being said, Jane was a morally upright woman, and even being tempted by the dashing Rochester, she most likely would have remained a virgin, as difficult as it might be.

I love what you've done with this video. Excellent.

  • Well, you have to remember that she was a moral person so chances that's why nothing happened; and secondly, the whole in the bedroom scene would not have happened- it was just romanticized.

  • I totally agree with you. Jane wouldn't even let him embrace her in the book, let alone lie on top of her kissing her and running his fingers over her face and neck. There's no way she would have put herself in that position, as she had already made up her mind that she was going to leave...

  • Well, first of all, she's still a woman. Temptation can find even the most chaste of women. Secondly, I'm not worried about this movie being historically accurate, it's a modern version, so I don't mind a little creative license! lol

  • OMG! WOW! This takes my breath away! The best JE Vid I had ever seen! :D

    Congrats! 100*s!!!!!!!!!

  • wouldnt you just love him run this fingers over your body o_0 god ive melted at the thought haha.

  • The body language and all those looks they give each other are just mind-blowing!As for the bed-scene,I think that was probably something that the screenwriter might have fantasized about. She's probably in love with Mr Rochester like the rest of us.That's why I forgave her for it,after a few views...

  • Indeed. :)

  • @gio73vanna

I think they included the "bed scene" because they wanted to find a visual language for the "mood" in which Jane leaves Rochester. The fact that she leaves him doesn't mean that she doesn't feel tempted. She leaves him inspite of (because of!) being on fire. She can't stay with him because she knows she couldn't resist him.

  • (cont). That is way I think that Jane would have resisted in the book, had she been put in that position, and she did resist him in the film. Her problem with Rochester is that he wanted to rule her, and she'd never had allowed that. She was not ready to fall completely for him, and neither was he for her. It was love, but it was also a game, as our friend was fortunate to point out in this video. If you read the book, you´ll certainly see what I mean.

  • "It was love, but it was also a game" -- So true. That's one reason why the book fascinates me so much because Jane and Rochester's early relationship is a constant struggle for power.

  • I think the bed scene is a good re-reading of the library scene. It could never be in a Victorian novel, but it fits perfectly the sexual tension between Jane and Rochester, which is definitily present in the book, for those who read it with a bit more attention. Jane is not an average Victiorian girl; she is an outcast, an orphan, a woman who was always on her own. Her relationship with Rochester was never pointed by morals, but by her necessity to stand up for herself, to be equal with him.

  • I just saw the film and it's sooo beautiful!!!!! I want to read the book!! :D I don't think she gave up her virginity with the bed scene but she must 've done after she left Thornfield (the 2nd time she left) because after that (at the end) she had kids of him.. .. ..

  • You should definitely read the book, it's very good. All this discussion made me want to re-read it, and I can't find my copy!!! Argh... It's got to be here somewhere. DaftTwerp - I got so distracted by the content of the video, that I'm only now fully appreciating the fantastic job with editing and transitions and whatever else goes into making one of these videos. Good job!

  • I don't buy that we feel any more lust than women in that time period. What do you think made all of Rochester's previous partners sleep with him?

None of my friends (and I'm in my late 20s), virgins or not, would consider virginity something to be ashamed of.

  • don't forget, that Rochester's other partner was a dancer or something, who lived surroinded an urban life, which was (have to admit) very similar to ours. but Jane was brouth up in strickt conditions and she did have rather strong morals.

i still think we feel more lust, because the way times have changed. Jane never had to face for example the media of sexuality. i'm a bit troubled now with explaining this, but i think, that in her time love was more like a spiritual adventure than nowdays.

  • Anyways... love this video! music, tension, passion.... Perfect!

  • i don't believe it happened. i liked this movie version but that bed scene sucked. a girl at the Victorian era wasn't fed up with such sexual lust as we are. she simply wouldn't even think about doing such thing. it's probably difficult for us to understand, but being a virgin wasn't something to be ashamed of at that time of history. quite the contrary. (not like today though...)

  • I know the bed seen is different, but it helps to create the sexuality and passion of this version of J.E. Even though they are on the bed, and surely any women today would give in to the passions of Rochester, you know Jane wouldn't. Its there and it looks like she might, but she remains pure of heart.

I love this version too and the bed scene is what makes it different.

  • After reading all 500 of the comments (admittedly, after watching the video a few more times) I had make another comment, which apparently got lost. I wanted to defend this video. The reason I've always preferred Jane Eyre to Austen was the passion. Remember, the book at the time was quite controversial. I'm sure Charlotte Bronte could handle alot more than we give her credit for, and I'm sure she would appreciate this video. In fact, I'd love to see her notes of what didn't make the final draft

  • Are those 2 flashback scenes realistic or true to the book? Of course not. I'm I happy they were included anyway? Absolutely. (Right there with you pacmandy.)

  • I loved the book, this version of the mini-series, and this video is fantastic!

  • hmm boys watch and learn... but first see the whole movie if you can, cause this emits a different kind of energy than it does with all the other scenes... there's more tension if you watch this with the movie

  • Does anyone know of Tenant of Wildfell Hall is as good as Jane Eyre? I know it's not written by the same person, but I'm just asking.

  • tenant of wildfell hall was written by anne bronte and i loved it when i read it as a girl. when i was older i saw the flaws in the story line, but still... BBC made a great serial way back when, with a very young corin redgrave who was marvellous in the part;

  • But is it worth it to read? Well, I'm reading it anyway even if it's not as good as Charlotte and Emily's books. :)

  • i asked my sister who has read it more recently and she thinks it's definitely worth a read, the story is very interesting, she just thought that some of the characters were a bit unbelievably "goody goody" as they often were in novels those days!!

  • Hahahaha... I totally get what you mean. :) Thanks for the tip! I'm going to read it next after I'm done with Les Miserables by Victor Hugo. :)

  • After getting through Les Mis (what a bore), I finally got to read Tenant, and it was actually pretty good, but I think I like Jane Eyre more because Tenant was sad in its own way and for me the sad bits never really lifted?

About the "goody goody," what do you mean? :) I mean, I thought that abuse was pretty bad.

  • oh, well i think i think my sister meant: the long-suffering women who sacrifices everthing for "doing the right thing", a recurring theme in victorian novels like "middlemarch" etc, you feel like taking them by the shoulders and shaking them out of it!

by the way, i like the way you're reading your way through these novels!

  • Yeah, I know about being too good and stuff, but I still understand why she would want to do the "right thing" because I can still see this occurring up to this day in some cultures. :)

I'm currently reading Maurice by E.M. Forster about finding homosexual love in Cambridge. :) I thought it'd be pretty interesting as it was written in 1913. :)

  • Have you seen the video of the film version here? It is amazing but very different. It perfectly describes the transformation of a relationship under stress from substance abuse.

  • Well done video. Loved your timing and scene choices.

  • That was amazing, well done!!! I love Massive Attack and that song worked really well with your scenes....I feel a little hot right now.....

  • Massive Attack is great for that scenes... love the movie and music

  • Love this video.. show the pure passion of the relationship.. who is the artist and what is this song?? i remember walking round Haddon Hall where this was filmed thinking i would have held off like jane did!

  • That was really ...sexy...lol Good job editing in tune with the music....it increased the intensitiy of the last couple of minutes...yes SEXY...

  • i love this show so much and i love the music to it.

  • For anyone who has not read the book, in the book that seen never took place.

What really happened was that Jane fainted and Mr.Rodchester carried her to the librairy, where he tried to embrace her but she wouldn't let him because he was married to the insane Bertha.

  • Oh my Godnessss!!!! This is beyond good.

    Is it hot in here?!

  • It's been so long since I've read the book, I don't remember this part at all! Damn I need to read it again, good video. It's so....different, I love it!

  • This is so dark and different! Love it!

  • HE's SOOOOO SEXY!!! =))

  • This is so well edited... Jane definately had more will power than me!

  • !!!! 3 minutes of kissing....swooooon, lol !!!

  • This is an amazing video. I've watched it so many times! Toby is sooo good looking! This vid is pure sex lol!

  • Oh, this is so good, different and beautiful!

  • toby played rochester sooo well in this movie! the only problem is that hes TOO GOOD LOOKING! rochester was meant to be plain but hes smokin!

  • i loveee the music!!

  • this video is unique. There is such a sensual and erotic feel to it. I feel emotional everytime I watch. AWESOME indeed.

  • THE BEST!!!

  • WOW. This is like nothing I have ever seen before.

    5/5.

  • Toby Stephens is too dreamy to look at. He's gorgeous!!!

  • Oh my goodness. I have seen this so many times and it still moves me. This is so sensual. Makes me want to attack my husband.

  • Well, I HAVE to say that I have discovered this video a week ago and i HAVE TO come back every day to watch it again. At least twice.

    Not tired of it yet.

    Blows my mind...

  • No need to apologize for "another Jane Eyre music video." There aren't enough Jane Eyre videos on YT, if you ask me! And this is a good addition to the canon. Kudos!

This video is, actually, very persuasive. I had my reservations in the beginning, but I'm beginning to have my doubts she would have gotten out of there a virgin. I mean, look at that devilish Rochester! That shameless stroking and - well, thrusting himself on top of her. He is a selfish b***ard. (Hey - he says it himself!)

  • Fantastic video, great choice of music thanks for making and uploading!

    Liz

  • Just to point out, in the book, the couple doesn't consummate their relationship until after they are reunited, "off stage" if you will.

    Charlotte didn't write smut.

The religious undertones and suspenseful air of self-denial would imply as much, and, imho, makes for a far better, deeper story.

  • Don't worry, they didn't do it in the film, they just kissed few times. You should understand that this is a very good made video clip, repeating the same scene over and over again, so it makes you think...and yes, I think we all have read the book

  • I agree, althought this is a great film based on the book, the real story wasnt full with tones of love it was the fact that a rich and middle aged man can fall in love with a women of 18. it was unexpected, i guess u could say =] and there relationship didnt get big until there problems were solved and Mr Rochesters previous insane wife died and he and jane lived a happy life with children. ect. But i love this film Toby plays Rochester so well with his smile =D and cockyness and jelousy, cool!

  • Very true. But I don't think that they consummate their love until marriage in the film as well. I mean, sure, they make-out and play footsie, but Jane wouldn't allow them to go all the way in my opinion. I mean, she refused to hold his hand before marriage (carriage scene) don't you think she would hold out on something as huge as sex? She probably said "We've waited this long, we can wait a little longer, Mr. Rochester" and he's roll his eyes with an "Oh God... you're just teasing me, witch."

  • the best vid ever....awesome song...its perfect!!!

  • Pure sex!!! OMG! Best thing on youtube!

  • oh, only a woman could write this book.

  • Toby Stephens..such a fox, ahhh victorian men are The Shit.

  • i second that.

  • wow... perfecta combinación de amor, pasión y deseo... y la música nos hace ser parte de todo ello...me quedé sin aliento...congratulations

  • j'adoooooore cla musique est super ainsi que le montage je la regarde dès que je peux . Thanks

  • Rochester may be despotic as a character but he sets our heroine free by virtually and in deed telling her to be herself and that he will love her for that. That is why Jane feels free with him and not St John. Because Rochester loves her and accepts her as she is. His being despotic makes her appear more brave for defying him and really doing what she wants. Count the times she says "I'm sorry sir but I won't do it". She may call him her master but she is always stronger than him.

  • Yes the book is certainly sexually charged (even more than the adaptation). The difference is that in the film they demonstrate desire&its partial fulfillment, while in the book it is implied by the mere want of it's completion. Desire in the book becomes torturing exactly because it can not be fulfilled. For me that want is so much more poignant, the fact that no matter how much she desires him she can not allow him to touch her.And of course it would not be reasonable since they are breaking up.

  • For me what makes Jane Eyre such a perfect book is its ability to combine notions of romantic love (like oneness and suitability, and soul-mate concept) with palpable sexual desire (which is as natural, human, realistic and not at all reproachable). Who can resist a love like theirs?

  • Who said that Rochester and Bertha did not consummated their wedding? Rochester says that he despises the recollection of being her husband. In a Bronte novel even the marriage between Jane and St John who is utterly unsexual would be consummated: that was marriage to the eyes of church. There were no white marriages.

  • yep still steamy!!!!!!!

  • HAHA! Wow! That's great. I have read this book many times and think I am a purist. In fact I had serious problems w/ that post-botched wedding scene, but got over it because it's actually very hot. The end scene is still ridiculous. However, I too pondered that too. This fantastically created. No. There's no way it would never have happened before she was his wife, but it is hot in the movie all the same and you certainly got the emotion across!

  • I dont find it very astonishing that she walked away a virgin.. i mean its Jane Eyre!!!

  • Well considering that Rochester himself said he could not urge her into a life of sin...I'm willing to go with this theory: neither of them would have allowed it to happen, although both of them desperately wanted it to.

Of course - I LIKE your theory better, I mean, IMHO they would have probably been much happier and level headed and less angsty if they had just gone about it like rabbits throughout the whole thing, but it's not realistic at all! LOL

  • this looks like a good jane eyre, she has to be a real plain Jane, not a gorgeous actress with no make-up on and a bit of pale foundation pretending to be plain, and the Rochester character has to be gorgeous swashbuckling and dangerous. In me umble opinion

  • On a slightly off note, does anyone else think this would be a great song to strip to?

  • I laughed out loud at this comment! Yes, I do....:D

  • ahah, totaly agree, I thought exactly the same when the music started:-D

  • Beautiful...wonderful video, I can't get enough of it, and I watch it over and over again, ... but the music is the secret ingredient... Good job!

  • Thank you Daft.

You have created an amazing vid.

    Hottttt

  • i don't think its the original music video but the orginal one is even weirder
