This is so inacurate. First the paratroopers landed in fields on the outskirts of the towns & citys & There was barley any artilery fire from Flaks. Machinima needs to read a book instead of the back of a game manual.

Good Lord.. this film is so wrong (those involved in making it should at least have visited the Netherlands, studied the history of the operation and the landscape)..

- The landscape and architecture are completely off. We barely use thatched roofs and timber framing here. And the terrain is not particularly hilly (although there are some hills north of Arnhem and south of Nijmegen).

- Paratroopers did not land in the actual cities but on drop zones well outside the cities.

I am reading a bridge too far right now, and the sheer arrogance and lust for victory got so many brave, gung-ho young men killed in this operation. What came next was a brutal winter in the ardennes.... Can you believe what these guys had to accomplish? Enemy resistance was grossly underestimated, including the 9th SS panzerdivision, and Field Marshal Model himself... what a fucking war.

It's impossible to understand what they must have felt in there. My grandpa fought in the Wehrmacht on the Eastern Front all the way into Russia and back to Berlin and in the end got his leg sawn off by the medics without narcotics and the first thing he did after the surrender was taking a shovel and starting to rebuild his leveled country. It's unbelieveble how tough this generation was compared to ours ... :-/

I am from Holland and there are a few reasons why the British could not take the Arnhem bridge. The most important reason is the Monty ignored information the Dutch resistance sent before the start of Market Garden. The resistance reported that there were 2 ss panzer units around Arnhem. The British 1st Airborne showed great courage and for the Dutch they are true heroes, just like the men from 82nd, 101st and 30corps.

The real reason for failure was Jim Gavin's failure to seize Nijmegen bridge rapidly (as ordered.)

About 700 men of John Frost's 2 para (and 3 para) held on for 3 and a half days at Arnhem bridge preventing its destruction. When XXX corps got to Nijmegen it was still in German hands thus dooming the men at Arnhem

a lot of brave men dies during that war, and mistakes were made on everyside not just the brits. it is not the troops fault that they are lead by idiots... again, idiots on all sides, american, polish and british. the problem was bad communication. the americans did not save the british, they aided towards the war effort and it was a welcome aid. but it wasn't just our war... brits originally joined in to help other countries. and now the brits are losing there lives fighting for the americans

the french did better? they surrendered 12days after being invaded. they were the reason we were left in the shit! anyway, the reasons america joined the war effort was not to help the brits cos we were doing badly, it was cos the americans cut off oil supply from japan cos they had invaded southern indochina, which worried them. the japanese saw this as an unspoken decleration of war and bombed pearl harbour. the germans were part of the axis agreement with japan...therefore you joined the war.
