  • the tutorial is pretty good, but it seems like the strings you picked changes, so it's not always top 3 strings. I would be better if you tell us which strings you pick as it changes.

  • @smores83 its no that important which strings you pick as long as the chords are right. i never really play it the same way either

  • Thanks for the excellent tutorial. By the way, the chord you said you don't know what it's called at 2:38 is a D7

  • Very nice. Thank you.

  • Okays im COMPLETLEY new to the world of guitar, but how do you play the first 3 strings with only two fingers? Like you did at 2:04 ?

  • @YourEyesSpeakMore use your thumb index and middle finger

  • @YourEyesSpeakMore

if you cant play these simple chords, learn an easier song!!! LOL like: "happy birthday" LOL

  • Thank you.

  • Thanks plenty for the tutorial! some questions about your guitar.. Your guitar's a 414ce, what's your pickup? and what year did this model come out?

  • @g00b3rsVAN I'm using a 2003 taylor 414ce. This was before Taylor came out with the expression system, so I installed a K&K pure western mini pickup. I think its a great pickup and it is also passive! (doesnt use batteries)

  • @ScottTsai a passive thats good? hm... sounds awesome! how do you control your volume and EQ? or do u not use/care about these?

  • How do you that D min. chord thing at 2:15? Mine sounds different.. Please tell me the fingering stuff!

  • @cosmicgirl910 x57565 let me know if it helps!

  • @ScottTsai ?? um.. well. im just a beginner so I don't know how to read tabs or those numbers and stuff..... so like.. i try to copy your fingering on your guitar, but it sounds totally different on my guitar.. :( like can you tell me which finger goes in which fret and stuff. thanks! :D

  • @cosmicgirl910 x57565 means u bar on the 5th fret with your index finger. ring finger on the 7th fret of the Dstring. middle finger on the 6th fret of the B string.

  • @ScottTsai ooh!! THANKS SO MUCH! :D

  • ^__^great

  • for some reason th3 3rd chord in the verse sounds wierd i dnt hear the high string

  • You got alien fingers.

  • gonna play this for a close friend of mine...you're awesome i got this shit downpact just by pausing and writing every now and then

  • I don't get how you palm it

  • @creation966 just lightly rest your palm on the strings near the bridge/saddle.

  • you are a.m.a.z.i.n.g!

  • @spongeboblz hey thanks!

  • great! got it!

  • I mention strumming!

  • @toscano316 did you see the video response i made? its called "detailed strumming pattern for lucky"

  • very nice^^ tnx

  • i think this guy is cute... love his lips...

  • @bjrhea11 i wish i could like a million times! HAHAHAH

  • @bjrhea11 ahahahaa xD

  • Thank you for the tutorial

  • hey, I don't know if someone already told you, but that first chord you didn't know (in the verse) is an E7 chord. the root note (7th fret on the A string) is an E, the 6th fret on the D string is a G# (the third of the chord), the 7th fret on the G string is a D (the 7th of the chord), and the 5th fret on the B string is an E again, the root. you probably don't care that much about all the music theory behind it, but there it is. :)

  • love this song, reallly good tutorial. thank you very much :)

  • Great vidoe man. Beats the hell out of playing the song with just bar chords :D Thanks.

  • this part, you know, the bottom of your palm. lol :)

    great tutorial, thanks!

  • @TLPisME haha thats actually really important though, using a different part of your palm will mute things you dont want to mute. and thanks for watching!

  • You sound like a robot!

  • @MaCgyver29195 dont worry, im not!

  • Sorry for a second post.. just caught something else..you're having trouble with chord names.. so.. the chords are Verse: C, Am, Dm7, Em7, Am7, Dm7, G Chorus: Am, D7, G, C, C/B, Am7, Dm7, Gm7 (and switches between Gm7 and Gm7Sus4), Ab (only on the E string.. which of course is your leading tone to Am) . The "oooh" part is: C, Am, Em, G. Bridge: Dm7 (switching back and forth with Dm7sus2), Am (sometimes I swear I hear an Am7), G. :)

  • Not bad for off the cd, but live he plays it a little differently..you're missing something on the Am in the verses, pinky to fret 3 on the B string (making it an Amsus4), and then up to the Dm7 chord, and when you go down to the G, you're missing another pinky part..pinky to fret 7 and then let it hit the rest of the barre, which makes it a Gmaj7add6 into Gmaj7. Also, he plays as many as possible barred, like in the chorus, he barres the Am, Dm7,G, and then the C he plays open and same with Am

  • heh he kinda looks like Nick Jonas in the beginning.. like his mouth hahah cuz Nick's always got a blank face!

  • Your guitar really amplifies well, gives it a nice clean sound. What is it?

  • wehh.. u didn't mention the other plucking parts.

  • Excellent job. I'm stealing what you taught and passing it on to my students. THANX

  • you teach well man ! i just need to keep practicing :)

  • Damn you're explanations suck, I don't know if I'll ever get it right, 'cause just what understanding what I'm supposed to do is close to impossible.

  • @spriiix you suck more. he already explained it in a simplified manner yet you still don't understand.

  • It's Called E7no5... go figure.. E maj add 7 with no 5th in it

  • I would like help with the picking. I'm still kinda confused. Especially with the bass notes.

  • hes a wido ^^

  • you can be a DJ couse you have a good voice

  • I am a super beginner on guitar...can u tell me why my G chord is different of yours??I play G chord on the first 3 fret but you play in the middle

  • @lfcivan1994 There the same (:

  • o damn ... ur great

  • This is an amazing video! I could have used a little slower pace for myself, but i just watch it again! I'm still learning this but it looks way fun! Thanks for this, I usually play the way simplified version of this, but this sounds so much more melodic! Thanks again man! God bless and keep it up!

  • can u give me the chords .. icant see it clearly ..

  • nice video. takes a while but i think i'll get it. thanks

  • The little transition after the intro is kinda vague, I'm not sure which strings to mute.

  • I'm doing well with the chords, but I'm having trouble with the strumming. I'll replay this again and again and I'll tell you if I improve!

  • i love your lips.. uuuuhhh

  • 4:50 is a C/B

  • the strumming is wrong. juss sayin'

    everything else is correct though.

  • @rafayealmeida show me then

  • @ScottTsai

just palm mute the strings and strum lightly so youll get a slight harmonic sound at the same tempo.

  • @rafayealmeida

strumming could be anything fool. as long as its singable and it sounds fine.

  • @Aminder7

Not if you're sharing a lesson. Don't put a video out and say it's the way to play it if it's wrong.

  • awesome vid only thing that can make it better is if u had a studio or something

  • Well I havent even had my first guitar lesson yet but I guess I can try to teach myself this :) Thanks

  • THANKS!!

  • nice taylor right there T.T

  • best tutorial ive found on youtube...ever

  • AWESOME! you are playing it EXACTLY the way he does! Now i just have to watch it a million times to figure out how to do it... haha

  • thanks <3

  • i really like it =)

  • Dude! Love your teaching style. You remind me of my guitar teacher here in Los Angeles. Great lesson. I'm adding you to my site!

  • your really good at playing the guitar . . you suck on teaching tho:) haha

  • Hey Scott, thanks for posting this! You definitely have the best guitar part for this song. =] I'm stuck on a part though, I've gotten along fine until the end of the chorus right before the "oooo"-ing part, and then the strumming patterns changed! Right when I thought I had it down... Could you please tell/show us how you play this part - 3x000x,3x001x,3x000x,3x0003? Thanks again!

  • are you playing the 4 strings the A,D,G,and B Strings for all chords for the first section??

  • So during the pre-chorus you pluck the 6th and 5th strings?

Great video by the way, I learned it so quickly and it sounds great!

  • you play really well but u suck at teaching

  • I'm a beginner guitar person, how in the world do i read/interpret the chords from numbers like "x5356x" and the rest of them? someone plz help.

  • @kewlgeko its tabs :)

x means you dont play it, 5 means 5th fret on the second string (a string), 3 means 3rd fret on the third string (d string), the next 5 means 5th fret on the 4th string (g string... lol) and 6 means 6th fret on the 5th string (b string) hope that helps :)

  • love ur voice!hope u'll sing it! :D

  • Hey i've watch this video bunch of times and tried singing along with it, but i think you have couple more notes on the ending of the bridge. Please check and let me know if you notice the same thign!!! thanks!!!! love this tutorial!

  • wow..nice hands..

  • Sweet! Has a rich, full sound. Totally better than just strumming. I don't understand y I can't get my guitar to be that neat and clear though, any suggestions?

  • @ SandyGuitarist it could be your strings ...

  • @SandyGuitarist make sure your left hand is above the other strings not touching them, grow your nails on your strumming hand abit more, or use a plectrum or thumble thingo =]

  • @r4z0r84 Thanks ! Really appreciate your help. Here's to clearer sounds :)
