So Cal Hospitals are now being paid 38 cents on the dollar for MediCare, MediCaid and other public services since this Health Care Law as passed. Hospitals are making cuts across the board in order to try to stay in business. While the number of patients have increased, staff and Administrative Costs are being slashed right and left. Wait times have increased drastically while services and programs are being cut. U can't force hospitals to stay in business or hire med staff - now what Obama?

I live in a country with universal health care. I don't know what lies you are told, but I can tell you it works superbly, BECAUSE most doctors and nurses are professionals and taxes support the system. I paid for it throughout my working life. Now that I am retired, aside from the taxes paid on my pensions, it is totally free: doctors, hospital, physio, prescriptions. I had knee replacements last year--perfect. Totally free! Insurance companies can be sued, they can crash due to no business or risky investments, they have to stay top of the line to compete (if competition were interstate, then a company would extend coverage despite preexisting conditions, so to make money the others would have to as well-capitalism. With this bill finally passed now all of Western Civilization has UHC. It's really a shame. Western Civilization had its glorious foundations in liberty and private property. For all the flaws of the previous system, it was still the best in terms of consumer responsiveness which is second in importance to the cost. Now that's gone and cost is going to spiral up.

Here's a true story for you. I had a friend who worked for JPL at Cal Tech. He was well paid all his working life. He retired at 68. The following year, he had a stroke. Promptly at 70, his health insurance carrier cancelled his insurance. His widow, because he died at 71, was left with $1.26million dollars in medical bills. The owned two homes. She had to sell both to pay off the bills. That is how the system you had worked!

With this bill finally passed now all of Western Civilization has UHC. It's really a shame. Western Civilization had its glorious foundations in liberty and private property. For all the flaws of the previous system, it was still the best in terms of consumer responsiveness which is second in importance to the cost. Now that's gone and cost is going to spiral up.

Thank you, President Obama for all the hard work you have done to help the people of this country have access to healthcare. It is crucial for us to be healthy in order to improve the quality of life in this country and the world. Like education, if a child is sick and cannot be treated because they have no access to healthcare, their education would be hampered due to illness. Over the long term, we would be failing the next generation if we do not take care of all of our children.

Here's a true story for you. I had a friend who worked for JPL at Cal Tech. He was well paid all his working life. He retired at 68. The following year, he had a stroke. Promptly at 70, his health insurance carrier cancelled his insurance. His widow, because he died at 71, was left with $1.26million dollars in medical bills. The owned two homes. She had to sell both to pay off the bills. That is how the system you had worked!

Classical Athens had several failed democaracies, and the last one had nothing to do with lack of finances or tyrants, it was because Alexander the Great conquered them. Also, a dictator was an actual Roman official during times of emergencies. Kind of like marshall law, usually voted into place by the senate.

As a conservative I hated this bill at-first, but the more I read up on it I have really warmed up to it. This is not even close to the universal health care that all the republicans made/make it out to be. Yes there is a mandate, but u also get federal help on that mandate depending on your earnings. The more I read into this bill the more i like it, more people should try to read a little more and educate themselves on this bill before slapping it down, it really does make a lot of sense.
