No, it's depend from model of computer.

For example, on my dualcore Core i3 notebook with 3 Gb of RAM, Windows Vista works more better than Windows XP, because Vista eat less battery power than XP and boot quite faster

I did'n installed Windows 7, because i hate in this OS a fucking ribbon interface in default programs like a Paint, Wordpad and because of Superbar (i really like a classic quick launch bar).

But on older PC's with less than 1 GB of RAM the best OS is a Windows XP SP3.

Now if you have a low spec computer with Windows XP and a maxed out computer with Windows Vista, then yes, Windows Vista will probably load up and such faster because it has a lot more resources. And you can make Windows 7 look like Windows Vista.

I seems definitely slower than XP

I am considering upgrading to 512 mo ram to get faster browsing and file exploring. But videos (divx 640x480) shoud stay slow due to a slow 850 mhs cpu.

Why is it when I install windows seven on similar specs, the OS Install does NOT auto install some of my hardware such as my graphics card, but where as in, when installing windows xp from the disc (on the same computer) it atleasts installs my hardware - Networking card, graphics card, etc.. Because windows seven does not install the networking card, I am unable to hook up to the internet to install my other hardware *that i do not have discs for*

all computer will have it high lights. Eventually I7 and eight core will be a thing of the past someday. 850 mhz processot it will fast if you remove all programs. Defragment it and you all good to go.

My OLD laptop from 1996 I think... It had a 1mb Intel Graphics and it used a external display running at 1280x1024 16bit :)

@WackoX1337 It's like Windows 7 Ultimate with 5 years of extra support, it costs a little less, and is a lot more stable.

So, don't get Ultimate. Get Enterprise: it also runs more efficiently on older computers because many businesses don't have the newest computers (usually coming from Windows NT4, 2000, or XP).

Sorry, "TVsparkproduction", but you need a 64 bit processor and operating system to recognize that much memory. Many computers don't play nice with Aero. Even our nice 2.8Ghz Radeon 9200 desktop doesn't, but its not really a bad thing.

@littlet533 When you installed windows 7 did you have XP or Vista and did you do a custom installation or Upgrade Upgrade keeps all your files internet setting and you get connexion, custom deletes everything and you have to do a windows easy transfer and yeah...

Old? That's anything but old, LOL! You crack me up. The only thing to suggest even remote aging was taking out the RAM to make it look like 512. Put your other 512 chunk back in, and you'll have a high class top of the line computer with Windows 7 in No time at all.

Yeah, it should run perfectly fine, just make sure you get the drivers for it before installing. (if windows doesn't automatically install everything.)
