In fact there was a reunion episode with about 15 mins filmed for a 1998-99 release with all the main players including a CGI appearence of the late actor whom played detective Ronnie Rycott. I have seen that opening sequence somewhere some years ago now but i cannot remember if it included the cgi inserts! I do know that Mr Waterman demanded a very excessive fee for filming his parts. The project was since scrapped minus the filmed sequences that still exist in the vaults.
@WorldTributes On top of that i also found out about a pilot episode meant for a new spinoff series never made called "Ray Daley's Lockup" which featured just the Ray Daley character also never released but as i hear due for a release soon on a special dvd.
I don't think Minder suffered that badly after Denis left. Yes it was a shame but these things can't last forever and it had become hard to believe someone as independant as Terry wouldn't have struck out on his own years before he did so it was time to move on.
Gary Webster didn't need to be anything more than he was because George Cole had become the soul of the show anyway and he was still there so it worked fine and it wouldn't have gone on another two series had it not been successful.
minder was never ever the same when dennis waterman left . Gary webster was rubbish and so was shane ritchie they should bring back dennis waterman and george cole and chisolm and jones for a one off special it would be tremendous if this could happen.
@MegaDave1973 I don't think that would've been that great really. The actors have aged way too much. It'd just look like some band reunion from has been performers. It's better to leave these things with a bit of dignity. Not flog the show to death like they did with Only Fools and Horses dragging on and on and on.
What I think would be interesting is to see a Minder retrospective. Get an actor to play a young Arthur Daley back in the 40's as a spiv making his deals. Give it a fresh look.
The difference is that Terry always tried to calm a situation down first instead of wading in like he was invincible. That showed his human side and made it more believable. This bollox aint close and as for Shane Ritchie - dont get me started....
have u actually got the clip without the music? i loved it when ray beat the shit out of thoses two blokes and then arthur i think says something like this is ray daley my nephew.
I thought it was still great after Dennis Waterman and it still got good ratings with Gary Webster, I also think the theme was good as it updated Minder to the 90s.
@sfordcar Yeah I agree. I've been going through my Minder Box Set which has the entire saga and really it didn't lose a huge lot when Denis left because George Cole had become the centre of the show anyway and he was still there so it was fine in my opinion and I'd like to defend gary Webster too, he had a tough job no doubt following in the shadow of the former partnership but he gave the double act it's own flavour and it was alos given more poignancy as he was family.
poor old gary webster last seen working part time on the cruise boats

Nice choice of clips and it all matches well with the music. The typography was a bit of a let-down but I appreciate your effort on this one.

@minderlover I liked the rocked up theme tune. It was 1991 it needed updating long before then. I loved the original but that had become dated.
