homosexual activity has been observed in over 400 different species of animals. It's not just for dominance either. there have been recorded cases of animals pairing off with the same sex over a long period of time, even when the opportunity to mate with a female was available. National geographic did a show on it. I think it's on here somewhere.
It actually just looks like they are both trying to dominate one another. My dogs do that all the time. They will hump one another in order to claim dominance over the other, even our female dog will mount and hump the males.
I can't tell the sex of the squirrels, but what I do know is that they take turns humping each other. Now why would a female hump a male? Doesn't make any sense! Process of elimination--these are homosexual squirrels we have here.
