Good question!! I bought several boxes before trying to start it; the "good" part is that I didn't even know what I would need to build it because there is no instructions, just the damned picture of the two kids (see my homepage). I can only tell you that I needed about 9,000-10,000 parts.

I recently found my blue box 1 (series azul 1) which seems to be complete though - waiting for my son to be old enough to play with!
