Carmie Heatley wasnt our best player. Even his one demontion elite ability, scoring, alfie had more points than him last year. heatley has scored 50 goals 2x, thats it.

Toronto got handed wins by ottawa's choking goalies, oh and they beat the islanders in the playoffs. New Jersey and Phili both owned toronto. The only reason ottawa didnt have 1 series win vs the leafs in 04 was their goalie couldnt even stop 16 of 17 one time. 2 or 3 goals against in 17 shots? PATHETIC.
I knew from the 1st second we traded for kessel it was a bad move. I think maybe if we traded for him a month in to the season or so, maybe we would have known our situation and could have traded for someone else, I'm really just hoping that kessel's worth his while and we don't get that 1st overall.

I actually like Primeau. He's a big body that actually uses it to CHECK rather than fight, he can kill penalties when needed, and he's solid on faceoffs. Grabo though, has been just awful. Bozak, IMO, should have that spot for a few games.

I do believe Jonas Gustavsson's return will be more than beneficial as he will be our number one goaltender throughout this season. But even with his return, and Vesa Toskala's at that, my God...have you ever seen his face after a game? The poor Fin looks like hell! He he has no confidence whatsoever! That's another thing they need more than anything!
For one, why the hell is Nazem Kadri not playing in the NHL? Age? Come on! Look at Del Zotto for example. He's 18 years old, from my home town and what a talent he has to offer.

It's terrible what has come out of the past seven games, but I do believe there are a few things that Ron Wilson and Brian Burke can do to change their present state.
Ron Wilson saying Booing the team doesnt help is complete garbage. What doesnt help is tickets selling out even when they arent winning. This is a team that was supposedly going to have one of the best defence this year. Booing the team helps a lot more than the press filling their heads with how good they are. Even when they get out of this funk and win 3 games in a row the press and everyone will start saying how they are now looking like a playoff team again. then they will lose 5 games

MacDonald is having trouble staying square, everyone is too afraid to go down to block a shot, and just like before, no one is really crashing the net hard enough, pinching when they should, not pinching when they shouldn't, and generally standing still in our own zone.

They have some key offensive weapons, but without Lundqvist they're not nearly that good. Playoffs? Yeah probably. But Lundqvist gives them a chance on off days, and on days.
What the Rangers would do without Lundqvist is immaterial, because they have him. Deprive any team of their best player, and they won't be as good.
The fact that Lundqvist is one of the best goalies in the world is what makes Tortorella's game plan work. Press the attack, and if someone slips up, Lundqvist can bail them out.
Meanwhile, if the Rangers score 4+ goals, they're probably going to win. That's what's been happening these last two weeks.
i dont think any team would be good w/o a decent goalie, Lundqvist is the main picture, but if your not detroit or pittsburgh then you have to rely on your goaltending and any offense you get, and in this case, we all must admit, its so far, better than last year. when they averaged like 1.7 goals a game lmao

They're goaltending is second to none, but the goal-scoring and defense will be hard-pressed to keep up this pace. There are a lot of young defenseman on the Rangers who will have a tough time as the season goes on, and some forwards who have a tendency to taper off.
I think you maybe talking about last years team with renney as their coach for most of the season, but this year we have tortorella lol and new players prospal, gaborik, kotalik, boyle and brashear so i dont think anyone is gonna be tappering off.and chris drury is where hes suppose to be be 2nd line.
You're good, but the only reason you've managed to squeak the seven in a row out is solely because of Lundqvist. LA outplayed you guys like a machine, you were extremely lucky to win there.
Keeping Prospal producing all season will be tough, his entire career has been about tapering off. Gaborik is as talented as any player, but staying healthy is a major concern..if you get 40 games out of him, you're lucky. Kotalik has a big shot, but remains inconsistent..Boyle is a big man w/ some skill, but hardly a big goal scorer. Your young D-men will have a tough time as the season goes on, especially Del Zotto and Gilroy, they aren't use to the long grind of the NHL.

Carmie Heatley wasnt our best player. Even his one demontion elite ability, scoring, alfie had more points than him last year. heatley has scored 50 goals 2x, thats it.

It was Lalime blew it for ottawa against many teams. Ottawa always beat Phili, and beat jersey 2 out of 3 and played a great 7 game series in their 1 series loss. Toronto got handed wins by ottawa's choking goalies, oh and they beat the islanders in the playoffs. New Jersey and Phili both owned toronto. The only reason ottawa didnt have 1 series win vs the leafs in 04 was their goalie couldnt even stop 16 of 17 one time. 2 or 3 goals against in 17 shots? PATHETIC.

This doesn't mean I think they suck. Make no mistake, the team that wins the Cup, in my opinion, is often NOT the best team. What I meant was the Rangers have managed to pull a couple wins outta nowhere (the Kings game you mentioned is a prime example). In the end, they have 7 wins and they're kicking butt, so regardless, they should keep doing what they're doing.

This reminds me of a story my dad told me..
it was a team who had set the record in the NHL for most consecutive loses. Forget the team.
Anyway, the lore is that, the team had lost so many in a row, that every team that went up against them, played them like it was game 7 of the stanely cup finals, because no one wanted to be the team to break the losing streak. LOL... they went something crazy like 30 games or more.

I actually like Primeau. He's a big body that actually uses it to CHECK rather than fight, he can kill penalties when needed, and he's solid on faceoffs. Grabo though, has been just awful. Bozak, IMO, should have that spot for a few games.

I just hope eventually something clicks, honestly when I was previewing all the moves made I was really excited especially on the defensive side of things. When I was imagining the Leafs blueline I never would have imagined this. Especially after a pretty good pre-season.

I do believe Jonas Gustavsson's return will be more than beneficial as he will be our number one goaltender throughout this season. But even with his return, and Vesa Toskala's at that, my God...have you ever seen his face after a game? The poor Fin looks like hell! He he has no confidence whatsoever! I feel you Leafs fans. As a Flyer fan, we now ended up playing 1 game in eleven days, which we gloriously lost and John "I can count the numbers of Flyers fans that want me to stay on one hand" Stevens apparently has still not been fired.
Seriously, what the crap is up with the NHL schedule this season. Yesterday they played 13 games, today they play none. And now routinely teams get almost complete weeks off when supposedly the schedule is condensed because of the Olympics.

Ian White, Stalberg, Blake, Stempniak, Mitchell... the only five giving a real effort. MacDonald is having trouble staying square, everyone is too afraid to go down to block a shot, and just like before, no one is really crashing the net hard enough, pinching when they should, not pinching when they shouldn't, and generally standing still in our own zone.

What the Rangers would do without Lundqvist is immaterial, because they have him. Deprive any team of their best player, and they won't be as good.
The fact that Lundqvist is one of the best goalies in the world is what makes Tortorella's game plan work. Press the attack, and if someone slips up, Lundqvist can bail them out.
Meanwhile, if the Rangers score 4+ goals, they're probably going to win. That's what's been happening these last two weeks.

i dont think any team would be good w/o a decent goalie, Lundqvist is the main picture, but if your not detroit or pittsburgh then you have to rely on your goaltending and any offense you get, and in this case, we all must admit, its so far, better than last year. when they averaged like 1.7 goals a game lmao

I remember when Ian White joined the leafs... I hated him, he made mistakes almost every shift, but then he matured, got experience, and now he is my favourite leaf at the moment. I'd say yes, he is the best prospect for Captaincy right now.

They're goaltending is second to none, but the goal-scoring and defense will be hard-pressed to keep up this pace. There are a lot of young defenseman on the Rangers who will have a tough time as the season goes on, and some forwards who have a tendency to taper off.

Keeping Prospal producing all season will be tough, his entire career has been about tapering off. Gaborik is as talented as any player, but staying healthy is a major concern..if you get 40 games out of him, you're lucky. Kotalik has a big shot, but remains inconsistent..Boyle is a big man w/ some skill, but hardly a big goal scorer. Your young D-men will have a tough time as the season goes on, especially Del Zotto and Gilroy, they aren't use to the long grind of the NHL.

1) Fire wilson. this guy totally mismanges his players. there is no reason Ponikarovsky should be on this team right now. hes played terrible. there is no way beauchimin should be on this team right now either the way hes played. I thought Burke said these guys were going to earn their spots ? Grabovski should be a winger so he doesnt have defensiv responsibilities and can use his speed more. etc

whats wrong with bringing Tlusty up hes played well in the minors the past couple years and he deserves a true chance in the NHL which hes never gotten. Right now we are desperate I say give him a chance.
