I find the newer albums have more of a melodic appeal to them. But I still prefer their older stuff because, in my opinion, has more character and feeling in the songs. As well the older vocals had a more raw sound to them which fits well with that style

that is a really famous symbol. Of course its Thor's hammer but many times people would incorporate a cross into that symbol. During the purging of christianity they allowed some pagan traditions to become part of modern christianity, like thors hammer often became the cross and christmas is winter soltice, a pagan holiday.
