If you think this film is about "addressing" the war on Iraq and Afghanistan then you've completely missed the point of the film. No use trying to critique it if you haven't grasped the subtext underlying the premise of the film. Its about people's relationships falling apart under an extreme scenario that just happens to be war. It didn't need to address any political issues.
like anyone cares what a gook says or two fags who played wannabe soldiers both theses pretty boys fags would shit themselves in a real firefight STFU YOU JAP..
This is a really great movie, Tobey's performence is shoking! People, just admit when you're enjoying a movie or when it touches you, you don't have to compare it to other movies. "Brothers" is a great movie by its own terms, not as compared to others.
Yes, you're right about the unrealistic part of how he was persumed dead when they would of send out a sreach until they've discovered his body and then actually confirme he's dead.
Although, I did enjoy the movie. Their performances were amazing. Tobey's freak out scene was stunning.
It doesnt matter why you are there, but in fact that you are, and as for america being a " christian " army then you would be mistaken, as no army in the west is filled by just 1 religion but by all, wester countries do not discriminate between race or colour, and as for the directer saying that it doesnt matter wether they are al queda taliban or just hostile combatens this is a true statement because it doesnt matter, you get shot at, you shoot back, them or you, and no soldier is forced to go
the movie is not about why we are there it has nothing to do with it so it should not come in to play in a review

Okay lets look back on some things here about this movie.
1. We have 3 FANTASTIC actors in this movie.
2.The director makes things very eerie by killing off Sam then bringing him back to life insane (Which by the way Toby plays a great roll in.)
3.I dont really point out these things but the score in the movie is SO phenomenal
4.And last but not least the director brigs intensity and excitement to the film.
I do not see what the problem with this movie is.

I see it as a film about PTSD, not a film about the war itself. Theres plenty of that crap out there.
Review starts off well then suddenly takes a different direction...

the same critique of this movie not explaining the war is turned into a complement for The Hurtlocker for not explaining the war also.
