00:54 I am sorry if this has been asked before, but what is the name of that model? I have to say that focus on her was one of the best 5 seconds of my life!!!!
Mugler is and has always been incredible. In a class all his own. How many of these "dresses" did he actually sell?As much as I love him, I'm not surprised his focus lately has been on fragrance. His style didn't change and I do think they would look dated on most women now. Like wise Claude Montana, but, god I miss these two!!!
Dear Contrudi: I suppose that you talk about the last retrospective parade that the past did Mugler month of Julio in Barcelona. I feel it, because I have several parades, but that in concrete I do not have it.
I disagree, I think its patent leather or vinyl that has been intricately cut (as is only possible in real couture) to resemble lace and then assembled onto tulle and the resu;lting "fabric" made into the gown. I think he did rubberized lace for rtw
I beg to differ. It is rubberized lace from Solstiss if memory serves me correctly. Very similar to rubberized lace/fabrics used for tablecloths. The feel on the wrong side is that of regular lace, but the right side has been coated with coloured rubber, similar in process to printing. This dress was later worn by Nadja Auermann in the "Too Funky" video. In recent years Cavalli has has used laser cut leather than resembles lace, but it lacks the texture of actual lace. Hope this helps.
I think you may be correct - I believe I remember Lagerfeld, for his spring 2006 collection for Fendi, stating he used new technology to create laser cut laces from leather and plastic. If it was recent technology in 2006, it may not have been avaliable in 1992. Does anyone have any more information?
Fendi is constantly improving upon textile technology, so it's possible that Lagerfeld was referring to recent innovations or a new technique for laser cutting leather, but Galliano was using laser cut leather lace in his first couture show for Dior in 1996. this Mugler dress is almost certainly some incarnation of rubberized lace as sunnyinlondon says, but laser cut leather lace was not new in 2006
@sunnyinlondon This dress was not worn by Nadja. The dress you are referring to is from Spring 1992 "Ete' Cowboy" which was originally worn by Eva Herzigova. The two dresses are similar so I can see where you got confused.
