  • My father had a general term for rock and roll he would often use. He called

it "ignorant music for ignorant people". This is a pretty good band track, with studio musicians.

  • I had no idea that someone did this song before Bad Manners. This version is great. No wonder Bad Manners covered it.

  • If the old DeLorean from Back to the future were real I sure would love to visit this era. Although I did not grow up in this era I sure do love the music from it. I heard this gem for the first time on Sirius Xm 50s on 5 channel they other day and wanted to hear it again. So in short thanks for sharing

  • Best bit ....the lyrics

Music is supposed to be fun ...and this is FUN

  • clasic song omg

  • Haha. I remember when me and my friend found this in his mother's record collection, and we played the beginning over and over again. we completely pissed ourselves laughing every time and neither of us could ever keep a straight face XD (I was 5 and he was 7)

  • I was there and this is one of the great rock n roll records of the time and I have got them ALL

  • Why is the needle waving back & forth on the record? Isn't it supposed to stay on ONE straight path?

  • @stevenscottoddballz Yes the needle should be on one straight path but you obviously didn't grow up seeing many vinyl records in action. Vinyl records weren't always made perfectly, especially 45's. I used to have many 45's like that.

  • @tamspeci

I see, now! Thank you VERY much for clarifying! I DO like this song! I remember browsing an antique store, & seeing this song on a jukebox. Fortunately, they had it set for "FREE", so we could see the workings of the jukebox. THIS was the song I chose.

  • @tamspeci The reason why the needle seems to sway back and forth is because the center hole in this copy of the 45 is slightly off center. You can correct for that by carefully hand-centering the 45 without a center hole adapter and playing the 45 that way.

  • They had a minor hit with Tear Drops will fall, a ballad type song not to bad, but they really didn't sing all that well .:)

  • Thanks for sending, angelofbebop! I do remember this, of course!

  • I'd only heard it by ska band BAD MANNERS in the 80's who had a big uk hit with it....now iv'e discovered the original....great party tune.

  • very good instrumental number of Dickie Doo & Donts !

  • Thank you for the great memories: I was 13, just arrived in the USA and two pretty high school girls

playing this music on the juke box every day after school at our pizza place in Brooklyn

  • What A Great Instrumental!!! 5*s Thankyou...Anita..

  • Great song! I haven't heard this in a very long time. Just a fun instrumental.

Thanks to Angel for sharing this.

  • Dick Clark played this on Bandstand. Have not heard it since until now

  • Dick played it because it was on his label-Swan.

He got away with all kinds of shady behavior and Alan Freed took the rap for everyone and died broke...and broken hearted.

  • One of the greatest killer b-side in music history! And i've heard a lot of 'em! Great novelty, too

  • It's the A side

  • the ultimate picture to this song is little kid running in circles...sweet and funny

  • ?????? how do you picture that lol???

  • I was 13 or 14 when this came out. My dad went absolutely ape when my friend brought this over during a slumber party. "That is complete and utter trash! I forbid you to listen to that nonsense when I'm home!!!" My girlfriends had a good private laugh at my father screaming the part about "complete and utter trash". It became a private joke among my friends. For years, my friends would mockingly label various things "complete & utter trash".

Dad is probably rolling over in his grave.

  • LOL "complete & utter trash" that everyone seems to remember... Thanks for sharing

  • dude that's golden!

  • beagle, I was about the same age as you when this came out and parents had the same reaction. LOL!!! Actually saw them in person with Frankie Avalon.

  • @beagle5pup : Somehow it made the music more fun: I can still hear my parents' voices "Turn that down!" LOL

  • @beagle5pup That is funny dude

  • rofl this song is so funny!

  • and since 1981, i have thought that bad manners was the original!! thanks for posting!!

  • I named my pet Racoon the title of this song, Great, Haven't heard it in ages!

  • One of the greats.

  • I didn't realise the Bad Manner's version was a cover. Love ska, but can't beat the old rock 'n' roll.

  • Smacks at times of jump/jazz swing ala Louis Jourdan, now that I hear it again...

  • My Mother, who was a young 27 in `58, used to sing this psycho-babble "Nee Nee Na Na Na Na Nu Nu" to my one year old Brother Brian while giving him a birdbath in the kitchen sink! I'm gonna call her up now and tell her to check this out! ... Dang! This is super! Thanks~~~offshute

  • This sounds like Nelson Riddle heard this and based The Batman TV Theme on it.

  • Love this song! Nice to hear it again! 8)

  • Brilliant - thanks for adding this - great old tune.

  • Where is "No Chemise Please" by Gerry Granahan??
