I think 160 kids is a decent-sized sample.
There were kids from (or with heritage from) Galicia, Basque Country, Extremadura, Andalucia, etc
You simply couldn't tell them apart.
One of the lightest kids was a native Anadaluz!

But I repeat: anthropological surveys of Italy, Spain and Portugal show that Portugal is the overall darker of the 3 countries. Italy is the most light haired and light eyed of the 3, and Spain is the one that has the lesser amount of so-called light brown (which is not really "brown"; look at #15 to #18 on the Von Luschan scale of skin tones) skin tones of the 3.

However, just by looking at many pictures of them you can easily gather how deceptive tans can be. In some pictures they look "darker" in others "fairer". Same thing happens to other people, like Federer, for example. Sometimes he looks as "dark" as Nadal.

the entire peninsula was habited by celts, celtiberians and iberians at some point, then came the romans, then the visigoths ( suevi in Galicia and northen portugal) establishing the first christians kingdoms in iberia, than the moors invaded (mostly the southern part of the peninsula), then the reconquista happened.
