I'm black/white and from The South. I've gone up North and some of the people I met were suprised that I enjoy living here. Some think its like it was back in the Old South days. ITS NOT! I have had 3 times where someone has been racist to me and I'm 26 yrs old. Heres' some racism for you, Why do universities (in U.S. & The South) allow for there to be black and latino student unions, but if a white group wanted their own it would be racist? Forget race, God made people we all bleed the same.

Our northern friends think nothing of it.
You should go visit the south. Well, at least Texas. It's pretty much like everywhere else in the U.S. It is the 21st century you know. Also, everyone i know gets along with african American people. How is the way we talk or dress ignorant? I understand you may feel outside of the group when you are around them, but that seems to be only because we don't talk like you. So then, is the very definition of acting "intelligent" to "act white?" Why can't we be "black" and still be intelligent. That's just like when I am around whites, I feel the same way you do. I feel like they are afraid of me, and don't even know me (which makes me automatically not like them for not liking me).

I see many blacks trying to live up to the stereotype. They're afraid to be "white" because they don't want to let down their "brothers," as if being the same race makes you two similar.
White people hate a lot about black culture today. It doesn't fit in with either the blue or white collars. I think that's a problem, and both sides are at fault.
Black people need to tone it down sometimes IMO. I feel alienated when I'm around them; their dress and speak are foreign to me and I don't feel at home around them.

This reputation comes from somewhere (history). My question is, is it as bad as it was, or has it become more progressive?
Ive always thought it was because the vast majority of blacks live in the south, and not so much up north. So whites down south will stereotype blacks for certain things, cause there around them quite a bit. You go up north to like Iowa, Maine, Wisconsin, etc you hardly see any black people so I think (persoanlly) they just naturally dont hold any bias views on other races I guess you could say. Most whites down south are NOT racist, but i guess you could say...we speak our mind more.
