I love my meizus... I have 2 of the same exact one from the vid, only mine's black... but they're almost 3 years old, and it's becoming unreliable... I know that it's better than an Ipod, but the metal back covers broke off on both of mine. and I constantly use it because of my job as a voice actor, and my meizu produces the cleanest sound ever. my prof. $300 mic doesnt even work s good as my meizu.

when it freezes, it means you're using a currupt video or picture... I know what u mean, it happens sometimes for me... holding the enter key wn't work though... u just have to delete the file... also, does any one know how to show a song's artist and album? cuz I download music, then put it on my PS3, where I put in the info manually, and most of the time it works, but sometimes, it will only show as unknown artist/album, and the song title will be the file name.

It seems to me that ipod now lets out better players than mezi and now compare ipod with mezi, but will pass 3-5 years and mezi will already compare with ipod. Unfortunately Chinese market IT-technologies develops much more quickly than American, Chineses have unity and the purpose to which they go all contain, unfortunately the American technologies start to lag behind the east.

This thing has a host of problems (Long load times for play lists, player crashes when scrolling through many photos at once, video is quite choppy etc.) but it is still hands down better than an Ipod. It sounds great, its small, and it is affordable. If you can get past some minor feature flaws and UI quirks you will love this player. The only reason why I switching is because I need a player with more memory.

Every single chinese copy of iPod I have ever tried has been a disappointment. The quality of the hardware and software is so bad it is not an usable product and after few trys you just throw it away.

This isn't a cheap, no name chipod. Though still an underground name, Cnet, Anythingbutipod, & DAPreview consider Meizu as one of the major players alongside Apple, Sony, Cowon, Samsung, Creative, Sandisk, & iRiver. User reviews on Amazon are also favorable & plenty. Anyway, I apologize if there was no indirect assumption towards the Miniplayer. But yeah, iPod clones vary from decent all the way to major sucktitude (not that the Miniplayer is an explicit iPod clone).

this is WAY better then ur ipod video, most people dont even know songs occupying 80/160 gb...and it has fm tuner voice record etc, and it cost W A Y LESS, u can get it(the Sp version) at NEWEGG for only 75(USD) bucks( the 4gb one) and 110 USD for the new sl version!! I would recommend the SP version from NEWEGG though i have the SL. :(

My mom has the sl & my lil bro has the 3G nano, & the nano does video considerably better. Video on the nano can play @ 30fps w/ video bitrate @ 512kbs w/o stuttering, but the sl maxes at 20fps & slightly stutters at that framerate w/ video @ 384kbs. Also, large amounts of memory is good cuz u can store lots of lossless files which r superior but larger than lossy ones (Meizu plays lossy MUCH better btw). Overall, I'd still pick Meizu over Apple, though I use & love an Insignia Pilot myself.

Correction, Meizu is a Chinese company based in Zhuhai, Guangdong. & yea, overall the Miniplayer is closer to the Zen layout. Still, Meizu's players do have the same color scheme, shape & UI as Apple's. Apple doesn't have copyrights to the rectangle & the color white, & the UI is trademarked by Creative, but to say u can't find close similarities is like saying Vanilla Ice's "Ice Ice Baby" doesn't sample David Bowie's "Under Pressure" (not that Meizu's credibility is comparable to Vanilla Ice).

My mp4 4GB piece of crap was hacked! notice it was getting errors on music once it went over a gig of music! Windows would read it as a 4GB but when you use MP3 Player Utilities 3.68 and use the MP3 Player Disk Tool in the software, on the Format selection it would tell you any MP3,MP4's true memory capacity! I was so pissed but thanks to that situation I wouldn't had found out about Meizu miniplay and Teclast T39! I guess things happen for a reason!

Drag the meizu converted films to the sync list on windows media player.

Hey, sometime it could be you USB ports are messed up when it comes to reading usb drives. Mine mother had that problem, all it did was charge my mp3 players. Got another board and fixed the problem, my pc now reads all my usb drives!

Just record your dvd to your hard drive via DVD Shrink 3.2 available free at softpedia website.This makes the dvd into compressed top quality VOB files.

Then use the mp4 meizu video converter program you get with the meizu player,to convert the VOB files to meizu mp4 files.

Save the meizu mp4 flies (which will now be flipped vertically for viewing on your meizu) to a new folder something like 'meizu converted films'.

I'm new to Meizu, but so far the little black CD that comes with the miniplayer seems ok with all my vedio files. Just install the 2nd software (1st is for win98). Use that software to convert your videos.

I´ve heard the same in a lot of mp4 players.. they do not play mp4 files... I gues the mp4 concept has to do with the ability to play audio, video, voice recording, etc..

The Chinese us the term "mp4 player" as a generic term to denote video playback, like "mp3 player" is used as a generic term to denote a device that can play music though not necessarily mp3 files (e.g. early Sony & Meizu players didn't support mp3). However, mp4 isn't as ubiquitous as mp3, so yeah, it's annoying when you find out you have to re-transcode ALL your movies. At least the Miniplayer supports Microsoft's old but still popular AVI standard.
