how can the guy say they were cast in the world of underdog? Just because they were against the defending cup champions? because they were missing forsberg? fuck.....no biggie, they had sakic, bourque, tanguay, drury, hejduk, Roy, Foote, Blake.....not to mention they won the president's trophy.....
You can't help but love this team. Even wing fans take off their hats to this team and those players. Can't be more proud to be an Avs fan. LETS GO AVALANCHE!!!
I miss the days of the Red Wing/Avalanche rivarly. It was awesome to watch the intensity of those games. Also, this has to be one of the best stanley cup recap films out there. They do not make them like this any more.
Lets go Avs!!! True Colorado Avalanche fan right here, since I started watching hockey at 7rs old. :) , I miss The legends of Colorado Avalanche. Patrick Roy (Best goalie & always will be in the NHL), Joe Sakic, Peter Forberg, and Ray Bourque. But I still love the Avs today. :)
@NextHW5 how does that make sense? LA beating Detroit means that they were better than Detroit that year...if they couldn't get by LA what chance did they have against the dream team?
I'm surprised this documentary didn't talk more about the heartbreak on how the Avalanche's 2000 run ended, with Bourque's first attempt at the tying goal blocked and his second shot hitting the post. I saw that live. It was a thrilling hockey game.
Could somebody upload "The Season - Colorado Avalanche". It was a documentary done by ESPN, and I think they did one the previous season with the Detroit Red Wings.
Thanks for adding these videos. The Avalanche are the greatest team to skate the NHL. They will live on forever in the record books and in our hearts!!!
I still don't understand how the avs were considered an underdog this year. Seeing as how they were the winning-est team that season and dominating in the play-offs, I'd say the match-up was pretty damn even.
I still don't understand how the avs were considered an underdog this year. Seeing as how they were the winning-est team that season and dominating in the play-offs, I'd say the match-up was pretty damn even.
@CursEfiction It's because they were facing the DEFENDING STANLEY CUP CHAMPIONS. They were underdogs cause people thought New Jersey would repeat and win again... That and since they were the best 1999-2000 and returned to the finals, they are considered better since Colorado is back in the Finals since 1996.
@SagaxLives They were even bigger underdogs after Game 5 of the finals, when they were down 3-2. That, and because, as you mentioned, they were the defending champs, is why Bill Clement mentioned at the beginning of game 7, "What a team of incredible resilience, the Colorado Avs..."

Geez sorry, did not know that it was that scarring for you. Here I will call Bourque and tell him to give back the ring and award after being one of the most winning defensemen ever in the NHL, having to leave the native team he captained to get a chance to win Stanley after 21 SEASONS!!! Because he OBVIOUSLY did not deserve it.
On a side note, congrats to Brodeur on breaking the record! He is a shoo-in for Hall of Fame!
chicken no way you give me the top team of all time that was balanced with an explosive offense, a brick wall defense, and one of the best goaltenders of all time
they not one of the best? win the cup first year in the league,11 straight years made the playoffs,9 consecutive division titles, 2 Stanley cups, had the games best players all in 14 years, 2 seasons dont make the playoffs one only off by a point and were clearly not ONE of the best? were in a rebuilding stage this year with 9 rookies and 3rd in the west....you even watch hockey in the last 15 years?
i doubt it. hes really really cheap. id rather sign paul martin, we need to bulk up the D a lot more than we need offense, we were 6th in scoring- while our D was pathetic. paul martin would be fantastic, but i doubt even that will happen because sherman is so cheap.
@BlackonBlackLac well the Nordiques did a big part of the job having sakic fosberg foote etc before the transfer of the team in Denver all they missed was a awsome goalie like Patrick Roy in the goal to have a great team, a stanley cup winning team...
@BlackonBlackLac LOL i hope you do know that the Quebec Nordiques set the stage for the Colorado Avs to win in their first season...it's not like they just came out of nowhere and took the league by storm

I haven't seen this many great players on a cup winning team since the Oilers of the 1980s!

ONLY winning 2 cups with the fuxing teams they had.

If you have a team possible to line up Sakic, Forsberg, Blake, Bourque and Hejduk in a line. You've got one of the best teams through time.
