@TheIbanezGrx20 if you know how to write bass notes in software like guitar pro then export the track as midi and import it in your daw...then u can use bass amp plugins etc...i myself searched for virtual bassist...but this is the best(and the cheapest) way i cud find to record bass without bass guitar
i see no fun in have a pc play bass or guitar for you just a wast of money that like having a pc fuck your lady there no fun in it it like rely play guitar
@hto1971 What if you don't play bass guitar? Then every time you need a bass track lain down you will have to pay someone to come into the studio and record for you. If this happens several times then you have spent far more money paying musicians to come in and record for you than you will have spent purchasing this plug-in.
@ShadeKangaroo Exactly. Using all real instruments is ideal but for most, not possible. Sounding "real" and sounding great are not the same thing. If you can use this, or any other vst plugin and make great music with it, I doubt most people will care that it "doesn't sound realistic".
@hto1971 Yeah, I understand totally where you're coming from man. It's just from a time=money perspective, or from someone who is not too serious about having absolutely realistic instruments, this would work great.
Don't wanna be a dick to CakeWalk but... You guys would all probably be better off with 4Front Bass Vst (it's free)- it's not amazingly convincing either but if you EQ it right, put reverb on, and put it behind a drum beat it honestly sounds good.
i think the sounds of this are cool but it seems can't play the technicques like slide, bend... and can't drop tunning or i don't know how to do that. can it?
when using this bass in a host prg(ableton) it is a piece 'o' shite. I spent four hours reprogramming the bassline in a grid to kick some serious ass, then I wanted to export to add to my project in cubase. Their sample loops are locked into their individual tempos and glitch up the renndering process like a bastard. I tried many things to fix it but the only thing that worked was to delete the track and uninstall this crappy software. if you are a serious musician hire a bass player. Peace out
i have music creator 5 softwear for windows 98 its ok for beginners who just starting 2 get in 2 music for more info email me at shawnpimp84@yahoo.com
Mmmm nice software, but I think it doesn´t sound good enough... That bass sounds so... mmm fake?? Just buy a cheap electric bass, record your riffs and what you have to do is a good EQ to make it sound "fine". It'll sound better than this software xD
@IttasteLikeshit i dont have a bass guitar thats why im looking at softwares..if i had a bass guitar whats the point of downloading a software? your an idiot.
I mean in the mix this might sound ok, but soloed it sounds like a bass patch of a cheap 80's Casio keyboard and much worse than a bass patch on a current Casio keyboard.
say i was recording a song i like such as crazy train on this program, could i import the drums to the song or can you only get the preloaded ones and how would you go about getting the drums or other intruments on there like where would you find the drums would u have to download it or what?
@radicalgarbage02 man all of there plugs that i have heard SUCK!!!! LMAO. If anyone uses this they need to give up bc you will never make it in the industry with cheap sounds like this! aha hahaha
@produccionesmiranejo maybe im not the cakewalk guy but u have to make it a midi, so u cant use a bass, u either click around on sonar and arrange notes, ore use keyboard
@girotube - As a producer, surely you recognise this product isn't targeted for you? It's for buyers of Music Creator to get a small 'group' gigging in their home which they can play along to on their keyboard. Or to add drums without being able to play them. Or to grab themselves a bass accompanyment in a matter of minutes on the weekend when they get a rare chance to play with their music.
Anyone wanting professional sounds is going to pay professional dollars for it, no?
@ShiftyGeezerUK so why try to sell it as a great sounding tool? It is cheap now but it was not always this cheap only a few months ago the guy in the vid was selling it a a great plugin.
Well, he'll sell it as a great sounding tool because you always sell your wares as great! No-one'll advertise their product as, "it's not all that great, but hey, at least it's cheap!" even if that's the truth. If the price dropped, that's because they aimed too high to start with and realised the value of the product wasn't competitive, so dropped the price to reposition it as an entry-level package. It's old was probably poor, but now it's a (maybe?) good product for entry-level musicians.
Thank you for illustrating and missing my point at the same time. Go back and read my post again and again until you finally understand what it really says. Your reply demonstrates that clearly you misunderstood.
You can load your own beats into Studio Instruments or choose one of our pre-loaded patterns to add to your project. You can edit those patterns in your DAW of choice (ie if you're using a Cakewalk product - use Piano Roll View).
DOn't want to insult this company but The sound is terrible for such a nice GUI VSTi
BUT still its a nice tool to arrange music but I would not use this on an actual Production. String instruments are too hard to emulate. TRILLIAN is very good but too $ and heavy on the Computer.
The samples are not working well on that groove. There's no release samples and it sounds like a machinegun t, t,t,t ,t same sample.
Studio Instruments is an entry-level product that includes pre-loaded sounds and patterns for electric piano, bass guitar, strings and drums. It can be used as a standalone product or with your choice of production software
If it sounds robotic, it's your technique, not Cakewalk's software. I've asked pro musicians and studio engineers to guess which instruments are real and which are software in hundreds of finished compositions, and they guess correctly about ten percent of the time, especially when it comes to software basses and guitars. The only session players I EVER have to bring in for clients are brass players and backing vocalists. Everything else can be made to sound so realistic that it fools everyone.
hello robin good videos but I wonder as I get everything it touches to this low on the track record it does not know if I will explain it but I want him low on the track was recorded not by just beginning to manage this great program. ..please answer my question
I agree, I just tried out the new Spectrasonics Trilian bass plugin and it still can't replicate something simple like a straight 8ths pumping bass line without sounding robotic.
Studio instruments (and other stuff, such as garageband, fruity loops, etc.) are great when it comes to synth riffs or beats for hip hop and electronica. but personally, real instruments will always sound and feel better. the more you can work with actual things you can touch and alter yourself (rather than a computer), the better sound you get.
@78fenderPbass Then buy a bass! This is one of the most simple bass programs in the market today (trillian and trilogy are too complex out of the box) so Id say its good enough for home recording needs (EQ the tone here and there and you will be on your way to get a good tone)
@78fenderpbass hey sup man u seem to know about midi bass programs do u knoe of any that ur able to use the mondule wheel as a treble booster man cuz i been searching and i cant seem to track one down
@78fenderPbass I agree. It reminds me of the cheesy synth basslines they would always play during intense scenes in 80's action movies. Die Hard anyone?
is this program actually useful for anything? it's like for playing on the computer for kids, which don't know what this instrument is for real. Like, how the fuck to use this program for real recording or studio work?
You don't have to use the little riffs they give. You sinply record your original bass into your workstation(this is a plug -in) then add other instruments be they real or virtual.
It can be used for electronic musicians who do not want to record an actual bass, rather still have the same instrument but using midi. This allows for transposition and exporting for use in other programs.
Hey Robin, I am a newb to Sonar Prod Edition. Can't do anything yet. What I want to do is make some Jam Tracks to play along with minus the Lead Guitar. How do I do this? I haven't seen any tuts on this and there is nothing in the user guide so hows it done?
nah i think they sound just fine for when you need em in the background.
Btw, the best basses I assume are Scarbee's J-slap/fingered or Red Bass as a new edition, is about 2gb and has about any noise you can make with an ebass.
Can the display be customised? As a bass player I'd find the fret board annoying, as it's audenience perspective not player perspective. And yes a bass would find this usefull, I can't always get the amps out ;)
@cakewalk software - how do i use it with fl studio? its not a vst right ita a program? how do i get it to work and controlled by fl studio? thanks!!!
can i record my own music with studio instruments? what files does it support? or i have to find another software to convert them to play for a regular cd player?
When did Roland buy out Cakewalk? I'll bet future versions of Cakewalk will be bad ass! Steinberg and Digidesign better watch their asses! lol...j/k nothing beats protools for audio.
Hey thank you. Just to be clear, Roland didn't buy us out. They did make a majority investment in Cakewalk, but we're still operating in an independent fashion.
sounds pretty shit! Such a useless crap only because you see the instrument and the string moves this is not better then any other program with many MORE AND BETTER FEATURES like Sequel!

Is it just me or are the notes on the bass inaudible? Like, not much more than thumps?
strongbadian4747 3 years ago

I didn't like the idea of this until I heard the tone 0_0
I would probably record a real bass for any kind of Rock music, but stuff that I don't mind being a little more virtual, this would be really good.

Hey Robin, I am a newb to Sonar Prod Edition. Can't do anything yet. What I want to do is make some Jam Tracks to play along with minus the Lead Guitar. How do I do this? I haven't seen any tuts on this and there is nothing in the user guide so hows it done?

Edirol Super Quartet has some 11 pretty awesome bass aswell :) I just figured that out

Super Quartet's Basses suck!
Man, they're awful...
i'd rather stay with si bass...
JeSuisMjr 3 years ago
nah i think they sound just fine for when you need em in the background.

And yes a bass would find this usefull, I can't always get the amps out ;)

can i record my own music with studio instruments? what files does it support? or i have to find another software to convert them to play for a regular cd player?
cyrusmatu 3 years ago
Is this its own program or like a VST??
Can I use this using FL STUDIO?
Or do I need to use Cakewalk?
Because I own both.
BBucketHHead 3 years ago
This is its own program which can be used by itself.
It's also a VST and AU.
It can be used with Cakewalk hosts like SONAR or Music Creator, and also with other programs like FL Studio, Garage Band, Live, or ACID

When did Roland buy out Cakewalk? I'll bet future versions of Cakewalk will be bad ass! Steinberg and Digidesign better watch their asses! lol...j/k nothing beats protools for audio.
bendertl31 3 years ago
Hey thank you. Just to be clear, Roland didn't buy us out. They did make a majority investment in Cakewalk, but we're still operating in an independent fashion.
