You're making it seem like they all were, and are forgetting your time period. Spartans were a warrior society and had to focus on the Men. Later on, they saw Women as being nothing but just there. Then they degraded, and many were gay. Soon after that, Greece fell, and later the Romans would rise up above them as their successors.

And it isn't like the Allies were much better than the Nazis. They bombed Rome and many other parts of Europe, killing as many civilians as they did soldiers.

300 is the ONLY movie based on ancient Greek history witch doesn't distort the actual facts (like Wolfgang Petersen's "Troy" were Brad Pitt sucked and Oliver Stone's "Alexander") . Almost every scene is historically proven. Pity though that in the historical quotes they didn't use the exact words Leonidas said (come and get it = molon lave in ancient greek).
