Personally this is my favorite independent show ever. The composition of the music was phenomenal. I wish they would have won, but Pulse definitely deserved the first place. Rhythm X just didn't play as clean as they could have. Had Rhythm X played as clean in their final performance as they did in prelims or semis then they would have won.

PS: For the record, Ayala High Schools 2010 show is my favorite of all time.

for everybody saying, "Ohh they should've gotten first, they were running around and each others drums!" and crap like that, sure they had a very high GE and Visual score but, the music was shit. That's why when your gonna have a lot of visuals that are very hard, you make the book easy. Pulse didn't have many visuals, they just had awesome stick manuals, and the book was super hard. Since they didnt hype all the visuals, they were able to get their book down. Looking cool comes with a price

But, yes, in this case, even though I did like Rhythm X's show more, I personally think that Pulse can be justified in their winning, simply because it was flawless.

This show is fantastic but judges like cleanliness and how the group can convey their theme to the audience more so than just GE and a tough book. Pulse's book was tough too you know. In all honesty, no book at this level of the activity is easier than the other.

Not to say that this show isn't amazing, but i think people base their opinion of it too much on the fanciness of it and that fact that it's muse. I won't that their drum book wasn't the hardest on the floor that year, but their front ensemble book was easily rivaled by others. Correction:

Pulse wasn't nearly as enjoyable.

Rhythm X had a show that got basically anyone going crazy because it was exciting.

However, this show is definitely not as clean musically. There are some sketchier moments in the snares.

If mapes and gromes come out with a show that's not generic with every other showthey put out, I'll give them credit. Until then (Never) I look down on what they will put out.

Reference: Pacifica, Pulse, Los Alamitos, Fountain Valley, and the other countless shows that they spam wgi and SPCA with. Blue Devils and RCC are the only two groups good to come out of CA

Great show!! I though Pulse played a little bit cleaner and every part of there show featured something. From the great drill to start the show,bass drum break, pit feature (which RX didnt have) tom feature. slightly better if you ask me, very close but i'm happy Pulse won. great show from RX too!!

You have to admit RX got ripped for what they put out. Literally no show in existence has been as intense as this one, like every center snare from the regional DCI groups went to RX that year, and the music was way more powerful, their show was SO much more entertaining, and they killed everyone in GE. Gromes and Mapes put out yet ANOTHER shitty/cheesy/boring/west coast show, and won because it was toned for a high school group. No, I'm sorry, they didn't deserve to win.

@jstinch44 That show was preety intense and I liked it very much. To me there show wasnt more entertaining then Pulses's. I didnt think drummer doing handstands or walking on sick drums was very cool. I thought the tom part in pulse show was cool or the very beginning with the sick drill. 2 great shows. mapes/Grom show wasnt chessy, I think all that posing and holding hand stuff in Rhythm x ballad was chessy if you ask me. Rhythm X did win GE very close but Pulse played cleaner.
