Actually, this is not a new concept. The B&O used tractors similar to this-both train wheeled and rubber tired-to switch cars when the Pratt Street trackage still existed. Some were self-powered while others tapped into the overhead trolley wire used by the streetcars! This practice continued until 1972 when urban renewal began and the B&O was kicked off Pratt Street! As far as your tripod goes, some Vaseline in the right spots will do the trick! Worked for me!
