My mom punked me - "check Simon Rattle"! :) Wow!!! I'm planning a version of the"call theme" for... heavy electric guitar. I hope this won't shock purists! Anyway, if Wagner had been around today, he sure would have incorporated electric guitar and synthesizers. I could even imagine Rattle directing many synthesizer players ...
Good stage sets for Siegfrid's Rheinfart always show little bubbles in the water. For unknown reasons Wagner omitted the aria that was to follow, called "Emptiness" or "Fartrein".
Very good. It's sad things are in a state that Berlin could not record the whole opera let alone the whole ring.....a big shame...the LSO and Bavarian Radio are doing more than the BPO.
Well, Stefan Dohr does a fantastic job! I have rarely heard such immaculate sonority comming out of a French horn. The whole orchestra, guided by Rattle, engulfs the audience in an ocean of music. I'm longing for some extracts from Parsifal, my favourite Opera.......
Where's the bit before this section starts?

Sir Simon Rattle is a fine conductor, and I think the Berlin Philharmonic is a great home for him! Great job Berlin Phil
