I'm not a split jerk expert, (infact I'm a +105 doing a power jerk) but if you pause at 2:12 you can see that Kendrick locks out at about parallel, and I believe that the extra ATG squat is useless and is the reason that he keeps missing all of these lifts.
@RandomStevie I think the extra depth helps to give some cushion when catching the weight. Lu Xiaojun and Zhang Guozheng both did it too. I think it just depends on whether you're comfortable doing heavier weights with an OH squat than you can power jerk.

Look all you split jerk experts, Kendrick does more weight with the squat jerk than any of you can deadlift. Plus he did learn the split jerk he was just much better at splot , the split squat. Plus he is the number one weightlifter in the US, not "the black guy."
Actually he doesn't jerk more than any of us deadlift. Some of us deadlift 700lbs, although his lifts are still impressive as hell, much more than I can clean and jerk! Nice work guys!
@BROZKNOWS I thought that there wasn't any testing done at the arnold? From what i've heard it's the only meet pat will lift at since he can avoid the tests. That's just what i heard at the 2011 Collegiates at LSUS just last weekend.
@beany11111 there WAS testing done at the Arnold's, just not in every session. Usada only tested pat's session because it was used for a Pan-am/ world's qualifier. Avoid tests? He spent 2 weeks at the OTC and they tested him there, and came to our gym 3x to test him.
There are two three-time Olympic gold medalists who use the power jerk (Pyrros Dimas - 85kg and Akakios Kakiasvilis - 94kg),
and there's another gold medalist from China who does the squat jerk (Zhang Gouzheng - 69kg), as well as another Chinese lifter who set world records in the snatch and total at the 2010 worlds (Lu Xiaojun - 77kg.).
Awesome job guys! I have been around this sport a long time. At this level the margin of error is very small. I can tell you had Pat made that 182 the outcome would have been very different. Success in sport is about building on successes and momentum.
Farris, what a incredible performance. He showed what they mean by leaving your heart on the platform. One of the gutsiest performances I have seen in a long while. This kid has a passion for big weights.
I'm simply not conviced that the squat jerk works for Kendrick. Maybe it work for Dymas and Kakhiashvili but is so painful watch Kendrick do that type of squat jerk. He should try a split jerk.

@18MeijiEra78 You are right about Dimas, my point really was about that Kendrick should definitely try a split jerk. He has overhead strenght to hold the weight but his legs are not as strong as suppose to be to do a squat jerk. He could try at least a power jerk to see what happend.
