  • I recognize the graphic as being from Gordon Reid's Synth Secrets column in SOS magazine, but I don't get the connection.

  • This is very fun, great sounds and textures. Also, either it's very well edited, or the players were really listening to one another. Well done! I honestly don't think the kit overpowers, as some have said/implied. However, I will say this: there's a kind of rhythmic tyranny that detracts somewhat from the magic of Riley's conception; i.e., the rhythmic (not just melodic) heterophony. That said, though, this version works for me in its own right; it's just different. I think TR would love it.

  • This would actually be good if the drums weren't there.

  • "The first question I ask myself when something doesn't seem to be beautiful is why do I think it's not beautiful. And very shortly you discover that there is no reason."

    -John Cage.

I think this interpretation of the piece is well done. By utilizing "rock" instruments, they are not doing anything that the score says not to do, therefore not breaking any rules. People need to open their ears.

  • where's part 2?

  • @BaMbOOzled82 Yes, this version does bring out the connect between the works Pete Townsend did that were inspired by Riley (Baba O'Riley, Won't Get Fooled Again, Emminence Front, etc) and the work that inspired it, doesn't it?

  • Styrenes? No shit. It's an education everyday.
