And the ventilation in the shed looks better with covers on the exhaust ports of the power cars, we just had fans above each car , bloody useless they were with three cars running you had to get out of the shed till it cleared. I used to work there up to 1994 just before privatisation. has changed a bit , the tracks in the shed were called A,B,C and D roads looks like they have covered up D road, used to be bloody freezing fueling the HST`s in winter, used to be a case of Get the fuel pipe on quick and climb into the cab lol.

@intercityHST its a tamper, Basically it will move the ballast about partly when in service to make the track all snug again so its less likely to move about for another 3 years or so until it needs tamping again.

@intercityHST after the gravel has been laid tht train vibrates the rails so tht they are levil to a thousandth of an inch or summet along those lines

Mostly just servicing, I'd think (St. Phillips is not a scrapyard), though looking at the livery on those HSTs, I'd say they were there just before the MTU re-engining. Shame really, as all the HST will be displaced from the GWML by 20
